Read the Acrillics Interview below and share it on social media.
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
We're Andro Mathewson (Philadelphia, USA) and Rob Atkins (Dunedin, NZ) and together we create electronic music and DJ as Acrillics. We try to produce electronic music that combines multiple genres by using organic samples to create a unique experimental sound. Acrillics was founded in September 2016, while Andro was studying abroad at the University of Otago in Dunedin after being introduced to Rob by a mutual friend. We released our first EP "Lost Colors" in October and headlined our first show at the Fat Angel in Wellington, NZ in November 2016. Since then we've released numerous remixes and have opened for josh pan (OWSLA) and Louie Lastic (Soulection).
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
We both come for fairly different musical backgrounds and often listen to many different types of music, which helps us to explore and use more sounds in our songs. Some of our biggest influencers are What So Not, RL Grime and Mr. Carmack, but there are so many more as well. More recently, we've been influenced by what some would call some what more experimental trap, from the likes of (New Zealand's very own) Quix and Graves. Our taste hasn't really changed over time, since we started this project, but it definitely has changed for us as individuals since our childhood.
What´s new right now?
We're working on a lot of new original tracks and some collaborations with other artists, but we'll have some even bigger news to share with everyone soon, we just don't want to ruin the surprise quite yet. However, we will be released in remix of What So Not's 'Severance' Interlude very soon too. Follow us on Soundcloud and Facebook for all our music and show updates.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?
RL Grime and What So Not (Its difficult to choose between them). We've seen them both in concert and their music and mixing is just unique in every way possible.

How do you personally discover new music?
A lot of the new music we find is simply by digging through soundcloud while studying for classes. Another great way is to surround yourself with people who are also interesting in music and ask them to send you new music every now and then.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?
“Yes! Normally, I'll share it on my facebook or twitter feed or send it to any other DJs or producers that I'm connected with. Another great way to showcase a new artist is to remix on of their tracks or include one in a mix.
