Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I'm a Bounce DJ located in New Zealand. Bounce isn't a big thing here which is why I've been trying to push it. I started my DJ journey back in 2003 playing Pumping House and early Hard Dance and scouse House (aka Bounce) after I fell in love with the Bounce scene and a club called Wigan Pier, which is the most recognized name in the Bounce scene and was the number one Bounce club in the world (I say was, as it's now closed, but I'll get back to that).
I moved to New Zealand in 2006 and decided to try and bring that sound over here. I got in contact with the owner of wigan Pier and asked to promote them, they agreed and so I launched my own event called "Wigan Pier around the World"

It's not been easy, people don't like change and it's been very hard convincing venues to give this new type of music a shot. The venues that were willing to try have been great but it's still not enough, it's only been 1 out of every 10 venues/clubs I speak to that have been willing to try it out.

This didn't help by the fact that in 2012 Wigan Pier closed down to due an ongoing battle with the council for noise violations. They re-launched themselves as a UK touring event instead called BTID (Bounce Till I Die) which has been great and the attention is massive so much so, that events have even started breaking outside the UK into Europe. However to avoid the confusion it meant I had to put an end to my events over here and so it was back to the drawing board. Luckily with the connections I have made I did land a residency at Amped NZ, playing hard house and hard trance. The people I've met through these nights are incredible and have become my chosen family.
This year I want to get back into focusing on just Bounce and really push it, I've had a few years away from promoting it and I think it's now time to try again.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

Yes..I think it's very important to adapt. As the years go on your style changes, your skills improve and you learn new things but also as the music changes so must you. Bounce is still my main focus which in itself has changed a lot over the year. In order to appeal to the masses and attract new followers I often experiment with other styles all the time puting genre's into my sets and mixes that aren't part of the bounce scene. Because of my time with Amped NZ I often throw in a lot of Hard House into my sets in order to appeal to that group of followers. Because NZ is mainly a commercial music market, I throw in a lot of top 40 remixes and what you might class as cheesy stuff in the hope of attaching that crowd, this also helps balance out the flow but I'm constantly looking for new types of music that will keep my sets/mixes fresh.

What´s new right now?

2018 is going to be my year. Rejection from venues did knock my motivation and I stopped casing gigs but this year I've decided to get back into it, I already have a few lined up and it's only 10 days into the new year so not off to a bad start. Of course being the only Bounce DJ in NZ does have it's perks, I get a lot of new tracks to showcase that no other Bounce DJ has even in the UK, so most of the stuff played in my sets would not have been heard anywhere else.
So plenty of new material coming out in my sets and mixes this year, so be sure to check out my soundcloud
