Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I'm a Drum & Bass DJ from Orlando Florida. I have a label called Big Riddim and I am part of a crew called Planet Of The Drums. We have been pushing this style of music since its inception and continue to use whatever influence we have to help promote the scene and encourage the demand for better sound and stage conditions within our little corner of the American dance music community. I come from the mindset that understanding history creates the chance for a more stable future, and think I do a decent job of practicing what I preach. I have been making music most all of my life and have studied and researched every possible role within this industry.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I am influenced by everything and everyone around me. I was raised listening to a wide range of music. My Mom was into a lot of Funk and Soul, but she also had a lot of Jazz, Reggae, Folk, and Rock & Roll… My Dad was old school, he listened to standards… Sinatra, Belafonte, etc… My Grandfather was crazy about classical music, anything orchestral actually… He and my Grandmother would always go into the city (NYC) to dance to Glen Miller and countless others. Music has been my single biggest inspiration and continues to surprise me the deeper I dig.
What´s new right now?
I have spent the last 4 months rebuilding our home from extensive damages caused by Hurricane irma. I have set aside all of my career based projects completely until we finish. Fortunately that day is coming soon and I can then resume the mountain of work I was suddenly halted from completing. I am most excited about the stack of new tunes I'd been doing with Saxxon, many of which I have been playing in all of my recent sets. This inevitably will lead to a tour later this year. Also in 2018, we have come back together as POTD (Dieselboy, Dara, Messinian, myself) to help bring more momentum to what already appears to be the next "big thing" in American rave music… It just happens to be the music many of us have been slowly nurturing since it was deemed uncool 10 years ago. Drum & Bass / Jungle music finally getting fashionable again so others can latch on to it.
