Alberto Dati

Check out and share our Alberto Dati Interview. This interview is part of our new Producer & Engineer Q&A Series. In this interview series we feature exciting producers, mixing and mastering engineers from all walks of life. As always: Share & Support!

Please introduce yourself real quick. Tell our audience about your background and how you go into doing what you´re doing right now.

I'm from Taranto, Southern Italy. I started my music career in 1999, releasing a 4 tracks EP with Tokyo Dawn Records, that nowadays has become a plugin manifacturer. Then I got in touch with Minus Habens Records, an Italian music label: with them I released 5 albums and countless compilations around the world, from 2001 to 2012, under different monikers: Dati, Appetizer, Elastic Society. My music was featured in big selling Italian movies, soundtracks and TV broadcast. In the meanwhile I started producing music for friends musicians, and slowly this thing became bigger and bigger. I released my last single as an artist in 2015 with Elastica Records, and from 2005 I produce music for clients and artist all around Italy.

Please tell our audience what projects have you been working on in the last years?

The last projects I was involved in were the last Non Giovanni album released by Irma Records, "Stare Bene". He's a young singer-songwriter and I produced all the ten tracks in his last work, playing also lot of instruments (bass, guitars, keyboards, programming). I also worked on the last album of Camillo Pace ("Credo nei Racconti", Digressione Music), a jazz double bass player and songwriter, mixing all the tracks of his last album and producing a few of them. I very often worked with Mama Marjas, a well known reggae Italian singer: I mixed a lot of singles and albums for her. I'm also involved in a trio-project with Camillo Pace and Barbara Eramo: we did an half an hour EP made from improvisation and effects, and we're close to release it to the public.

What are you currently working on? Do you accept clients and and what kind of projects/work fits your profile?

I am currently working on the new album of Turco. She is a very young singer songwriter living in my region (Apulia): she works with loopstations and lot of effects, and I already produced her first EP released with my label Putsch Records. We're now working on an entire 10-tracks album, and we're having lot of fun togheter. I do accept clients, but I prefer to pick and choose what fits best to my personal tastes and preferences. I rarely work on projects I am not involved in or I am not interested in.
