Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
My name is Anand and I'm a singer/songwriter out of San Francisco, California in the United States. I've been singing for over 10 years and recently decided to start my journey writing original music. My style is modern R&B – I am heavily influenced by John Legend as well as new age artists such as Bryson Tiller, Majid Jordan, August Alsina among others. I've been able to work with producers in the Bay Area and collaborated with up and coming R&B duo LUVKUSH for my first E.P. "Keep it Simple". The E.P. received success on Soundcloud, gathering over 60K plays in a few months since it was released. Now, I'm working on new music for the upcoming year and I'm excited to see where things go!
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I definitely started out listening to some of the R&B greats such as Neyo, Mario, and then when I was in college one of my music teachers said I sounded like this guy named John Legend. Obviously I knew who he was, but I hadn't listened to his music in depth until she said that. From that moment, I listened to almost all of his songs and taught myself how to play "All of Me" and "Ordinary People" on piano. Around that time I met my first producer Ivan Reyes and started listening to more modern R&B. This was when I discovered Bryson Tiller and his new "Trapsoul" style of music. I was immediately drawn in and knew this was the kind of music I wanted to make. At the same time, I wanted my music and style to be my own even after getting influenced by these singers. That was when I got connected to LUVKUSH and decided to record my E.P.
What´s new right now?
I have some new tracks coming out on SoundCloud and Spotify in the next few months – would love to get fan support on either of those platforms as I'm going to start releasing some singles soon!
