Read the Art Supplies Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hey! I am Art Supplies, a Producer and DJ from Brisbane, Australia.

My main genre is House music but as a DJ I get to play and vibe out to many different tunes, so my taste is quite varied. I make funky deep house club tracks and have radio edits and upcoming more pop-based singles.

I also run a collective of local artists from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, called the 'Fine Art Collective'. One of my goals from the idea was to help promote good people pushing good music, and from that we have been able to assist producers with platforms to release and promote through, providing support and feedback. On my Instagram and Youtube accounts I provide producer tips and tricks to help other producers, including how I make originals, bootlegs and mashups, mixing and mastering.

Aside from music I love to be outdoors enjoying life and spreading positivity, and spending time making great memories. Good vibes are always what I am chasing!

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I started out learning to play the piano and guitar quite young. I couldn't stand having a teacher tell me what to learn [although looking back I could have done with the help!], so I taught myself the instruments and the songs I wanted to be able to play. Eventually I found myself playing the drums and loving it – I was at a school heavily influenced by Jazz music so quickly became a Jazz drummer, playing in many bands and playing live shows around the country and overseas. This helped me build a lot of confidence in front of crowds which has been helpful to say the least….

When I reached the legal age to hit the clubs I was introduced to the world of electronic music. Early days, like many I was inspired by the Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Tiesto, Armin etc etc, I felt insane levels of energy and positivity from their music and I couldn't get enough! One of my good friends happened to have a lesson learning Ableton and introduced me to the idea – I decided to get it and give it a go, and haven't looked back since! I made pretty bad EDM and Melbourne Bounce to begin with, really trying to get my head around Ableton. I was loving the stuff from people like Will Sparks, Reece Low and TJR at the time but slowly became more and more interested in the house vibes and house producers. My first main influence I can remember was Odd Mob, a fellow Brisbane producer and genuine dude, his stuff has always inspired me, and this lead me to bring in more of my own Jazz, Funk, Blues influence, and write my own house music.

Now days I am inspired by so many incredible people. But my main vibes at the moment are Bad Computer, Throttle, Cazztek, Party Pupils, 3LAU & quite a few more! I am always on the look out for new music and great producers so please feel free to hit me up on my socials.

What´s new right now?

At the moment I am setting up for my tour starting in January 2018 with a few shows around Australia. I have a club EP and a few club tracks ready to roll out in the new year and am working on my radio tunes with various amazing musicians.
