Read the Assis Interview below and share it on social media.
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Ill introduce myself quicly for those who do not know who I am.
Im Sjoerd van der Helm and I go by the artist name of Assis. Im mainly Djing right now but I do have some self produced stuff ready to be released. On top of that I love to make mash ups in a wide array of genres. I tend to changes from styles alot as the industry is insanely fast paced right now. Being hybrid does make at harder for you to better your own sound.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
As most kids out there I started loving big room back in the days when stars like Martin Garrix shook the whole music industry. From there on I started to love the smaller artists with their more innovative and complicated sounds. I was instantly hooked by when I came across San Holo. The man had an insane look on sound design and was one of the first ponieers of Future Bass alongside legends as Flume and Mura Masa. The genre has skyrocketed since then influencing the whole industry. Even Martin Garrix is switching to Future Bass sounds.
What´s new right now?
Currently I'm discovering the indie side of Hip Hop and Techno and somehow blend these styles in my Dj sets to make it more unique sounding. It is already insanely hard for a Dj to pry into the established local Dj scene as it is, so innovating your sets with unique sounds is one of the best things you can do. Im currently teaming up with a friend of mine to start a Dj team making it more easy for us to get gigs. My secret weapon is an unreleased track with a friend of mine which we are trying to release through a label. If you want to stay up to date with my work please follow my Demodrop and Soundcloud account.
