BASSGALAXY

Read the BASSGALAXY Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My name is Bassgalaxy. I am a dubstep producer from Denver, CO with a love for coffee and audio. I have been producing electronic music for about 5 years, and I plan on doing so for as long as I can. I'm absolutely obsessed with good production quality and intricate sound design.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I can't lie, my first influences were the big boys like Skrillex, Excision, Nectar, Flux Pavilion, etc. The first dubstep song I ever heard was "Freestylers – Cracks (Ft. Belle Humble) (Flux Pavilion Remix)." Over the years, Skrillex and Flux have progressed into doing different things besides dubstep, so I don't really look to them for inspiration anymore. I respect the heck out of Excision and Bassnectar for being extremely consistent with their content, and building HUGE fanbases. These guys more got me into listening to dubstep, rather than the production side of it. The real influences for me are: Noisia, 16bit, Kezwik, Nostalgia, Kai Wachi, KillSonik, Modestep, Downlink, Space Laces, 501, Feed Me, KDrew, etc. In 2017/2016, my influences have been more on the side of modern dubstep and riddim. Artists like Svdden Death, IVORY, Tisoki, SCRIPT, Virtual Riot, and of coarse, Moody Good. Noisia and Moody Good have been my Number one favorites since the day I got into this scene.

What´s new right now?

I have a couple gigs coming up in the Denver area, I can't say anything about them yet but stay tuned!

As far as releases, I have some BIG things coming up. Some of these include: Collabs with friends around the globe, lots of releases with "Dead Cell Audio," a couple HUGE secret projects, and a lot of free singles.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

My number one tip to improve your music production skills is LEARN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. One of the biggest things that will set you apart from the rest is a broad knowledge of what you do. I am constantly learning new things about music production, and so are your favorite producers as well.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?

Take a break and do something else for a bit. Go outside, play some Skyrim, eat some Pho. When you get back to work, new ideas will come to you. Learn some song structure and divide your track into different parts. Listen to other tracks and study the different parts of them. For a simple EDM tune: Intro, chorus, breakdown, build, drop, bridge, chorus, breakdown, build, drop, outro.
