Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hello everyone! My name is Josh and I produce music under the alias of BeatMaster Slim. I’ve been making music for about 3 and a half years, but it wasn’t until the end of 2016 that I really started stepping up my game. When I first started producing music I actually didn’t have music making software, but instead a DJing program. I started out with Virtual DJ LTE and a Numark IDJ3 USB mixer for 6 months. I didn’t make any tracks in it, but just practiced mixing some tracks together. After VIRTUAL DJ, I bought Traktor Pro (another DJ program). In Traktor I did however make tracks just using samples on the decks and the live record feature. One of my standout tracks that I made with Traktor was Dayum, which did fairly well compared to my other older tracks on there. This wasn’t conventional, but I stuck with it for 2 years until I purchased an actual music making software, Studio One 3. Studio One 3 is where I started to change my music making process and start to stand out. I was no longer just using samples, but making my own unique patterns with my M-Audio 88-key USB piano and adding drum loops and sound effects and several effects on the different tracks. In my first track produced with Studio One, Organized Chaos, you can start to see a noticeable shift in my music style.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My first big influence for me would be my 21 year old brother, because when I was around 12 years old he showed me electronic music and 2 and a half years later I decided I wanted to make my own electronic music. When I decided I wanted to produce electronic music, my parents hooked me up with Virtual DJ LTE and a Numark IDJ3 and after that I realized I wanted to keep going further, so I started saving money up to buy more music software, gear, etc. My parents, brother, and rest of my family have supported me all throughout my music making journey and I couldn’t be where I am today without them. After getting into electronic music some other artists have definitely inspired me as well. Zedd was and still is one of my favorite music artists, because he has a very unique sound. He makes his synth patterns on his USB piano unlike many other artists who rely solely on loops. I used to be like that before I got Studio One and 88 key piano, but I would never go back. 1 year ago, I found out about Marshmello, and he has become my favorite music artist. His style is revolutionary and unlike anyone else and his music keeps me going as a producer.

What´s new right now?

On December 16th of 2017, I released my track: Magnetic Moxie. This track was a huge step up for me, because previously I hadn’t made a track with this much energy. The whole track is a nonstop frenzy and would be perfect for a club/festival setting. Upon releasing my track on SoundCloud, it took off and now has almost 8,000 plays. On January 12th, I released another big track on SoundCloud called, Gorgeous. Gorgeous is a trap style track that keeps a catchy beat all throughout. Gorgeous is by far my favorite track that I have ever produced and I would recommend it to all music lovers. As of now I am experimenting on different ideas for a new track, so I have no set date for a release, but it might be a future bass style track. Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

Ever since I heard of Marshmello I became a super fan, because he has such a unique style. His music just makes me feel happy whenever I listen to it. Not only is his music great, but he has a great stage presence as well and is super funny. He even started a cooking channel on YouTube, which I follow of course, because he is super goofy in them and they are hilarious.
