Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
BigLikeBaz, a Hip Hop producer from the UK with a unique style that has captivated music fans and record lovers worldwide.
With his debut instrumental album ‘Ormond’ selling out earlier this year on vinyl, he has made his mark already.
He describes his style as a homage to the ‘Golden Era’ of Boom Bap from the nineties.
“ I love that Hip Hop. It has fascinated me from a young age. The gritty drums, echoing horns and underlying jazz baselines. All this being fused from old records and samples is genius. To me its the realist definition of Hip Hop.”
With a second pressing of ‘Ormond’ recently sold out, he continues to work on his next official release.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I love all kinds of music. I wouldn't even call some guilty pleasures. I find influence from a lot of music and art.
My influence has always been how it makes me feel, if I love it and bump my head to it for hours the we good.
To put the influences into people then it is as simple as the greats from the 90's era of Hip Hop and beyond, but not to limit it to that. These are the producers that started my fascination into the world of Hip Hop and still some do to this day.
But as I mentioned before influence can be found everywhere, I guess i find inspiration then compile that into my formula of making music.
What´s new right now?
Right now i'm curating ideas and working on new music. I never want to feel pressure from this as its my escape from that side of life.
No doubt next year I will release another project, and maybe something special..
Just recently I was featured on London Fields Radio for a guest mix and a chat (link below), along side with DJ'ing at a couple of events.
