Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Yo what's up everyone, my name is CM and I'm a Los Angeles based DJ / Producer in the Electronic and Underground music scene. Another name I have went by is DJ CEE for those of you who have been riding with me since the early days. I currently am hosting a DJ set series on my Soundcloud that I started about a year ago that I titled #Withdrawals, where I play some of my favorite Hard Trap, Riddim, Hardstyle, Psytrance, and Deep House tracks. Artwork for the series is on the way, currently being designed as I type this. The big secret behind this series is, I put one together every time I come home from a music show or festival. I let the music influence my work and really just let the feeling take over. I plan on having some special guests on the show by the fifth volume, (currently going on to the fourth) so I got some good stuff coming for you all in the near future. I also produce Trap & Hip Hop for specific artists that you can find on my soundcloud as well.

Here is the latest edition of my #Withdrawals series (Vol. 3)

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

When it all started, I was 13 years old, I had just picked up my first DJ controller. It was a Numark USB controller about the size of a Macbook. Electronic Dance Music was growing, and people in my city were throwing small shows in halls to keep it alive. I was inspired by it all, all over social media, people were talking and the music itself was the highlight of it all. I remember listening to/ hearing about artists like [Tonic (now Deorro) , Kids At The Bar, Dskotek, Sonny Moore (now Skrillex) to name a few… ] At the time, Soundcloud kept me connected to the music. It was a passion of mine to sort through Soundcloud pages and put together DJ sets with the best music that I can find. I gained a decent following and still remember to this day how much it meant to me to be featured on an episode of Tonic radio which was a show he was hosting years ago. I played a show at the age of 13 at a spot called Electrotistic in my city which was the local club for EDM in my community that was hosted by a DJ duo named Dskotek. I still remember the feeling I got watching the crowd move, a moment that I'll never forget. I started getting older, high school came around and Hip Hop was in demand now, the crowd for EDM in my city dropped lower and lower by the year. It was during this time when I felt like I had really lost that special connection that I once had with the music. I started Djing house parties, spinning Hip Hop and by my junior year I started messing around with Garageband making trap beats. Something about music production was calling my attention, all of these ideas were in my head and I started thinking about taking the next step to turn these ideas into a reality. I dropped a few projects off of Garageband, then moved on to Logic Pro X… worked on that for some time and I currently am using Ableton Live. College came around, and I ended up attending CSUN along with my older brother. I wasn't too involved in the EDM community anymore and my brother encouraged me to hit Nocturnal with him in 2016. I was a bit skeptical on going at first but he eventually talked me into it. It was after that day that everything changed. It had been so long since I heard what was hot in the scene. It was amazing, a life changing experience that made me feel the old love that I once had for the culture. I've been hitting more shows & festivals since then watching some of my current favorite artists in the game (SayMyName, Riot Ten, Party Favor, 4B, 12th Planet, DJ Carnage, GTA, Valentino Khan, Excision… the list goes on) I'm really excited for what the future holds for me and am stoked to feel the same love that I once felt when I was new to the music scene.
