Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I am DJ Cortez, from Brazil and I am 33 years old. I have been working how musician professional for 15 years.
My parents are Chilean and was there that I play in the first time in my DJ career.
Currently I am live in Jundiaí, São Paulo and dedicate my time to work playing music set in some parties and producing my own songs.

How would you describe your style and genre?

I don't like describe my own style. I prefer just playing at the parties and feel the dancefloor vibe.
The genre that I currently play is Techno and Tech House.

Who are your biggest idols ever? Dead or alive, musician or non-musician.

My biggest DJs idols are Eric Pridz, Carl Cox, Loco Dice and others. Some bands like The Smiths and Cure even Pear Jam, Pantera and White Zombie. And my daddy, off course.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

Not have the humility to look at the market and offer me my job. As I have always worked in electronic music events, I had a lot of contacts to maybe grow in my career, but I never asked or I always expected people to do it for me. That is, always do it yourself and do it today.

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

Currently is more difficult get some gigs, because now there is much DJs and Producers to play and much parties.
My tip would be, keep the focus on your dreams and in your professionalism and make what you like, always with humility.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

The biggest challenge now is back to eletronic music market.
I don't overcome these challenge yet but I'll try until work.

How do you promote yourself? Do you have any specific promotion tips for other musicians?

I promote myself making marketing about my songs and my sets. I make some design to share in social medias and try to get the public know me.
My tip is, if you dont know how make your promotion, learn and try. If you try, you'll understand what your good point and issues that you need to improve.

We meet again in one year. What has happened?

I hope I have achieved some of my goals. Mainly back to play more.
