Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hello my name is Colten D'Agostino otherwise known as Daags. I am a 19 year old EDM producer from America based out of Connecticut. I started my music career in my freshman year of high school. I did not take producing seriously until the end of my junior year of high school. Music has always been a part of my life. I live and breathe music. Music is my passion in life and always will be.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My biggest influences have been Martin Garrix, Nicky Romero, Boombox Cartel, and NGHTMRE. For me they all have a very unique sound and thats what catches peoples attention. NGHTMRE is definitely one of my biggest influences because he really worked hard to get where he is today. My second biggest influence would have to be Boombox Cartel based on the fact that every song they put out is huge. They have never put out a song that has disappointed me or others. Lastly, Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero have been my biggest influences because they got me into producing. If my buddy had never introduced me to their music I honestly wouldn't be doing this interview nor investing my life into music.
What´s new right now?
I have a bunch of new music to be put out. If I remember correctly I have somewhere between 5-10 songs that are ready to go. They range from Progressive House to Future Bass. On a side note I want to give the new producers who are just getting started a piece of advice. First off, find your self a mentor that can guide you and help shape your music path or career. Next you have to have a plan before you start investing your time and life into this industry. You need a long term plan and a short term plan. Reason being, if you don't end up making it as a producer/Dj you will need a back up plan. Also make a set of goals to achieve. Plan to have a variety of goals. For example, have a goal thats going to be challenging to accomplish. Second, have a reachable goal like to be released on a label. It does not have to be a major label. It can be a small label. Third, have a personal goal that will drive you until you have nothing left to give. Feel free to check out my Soundcloud in the link provided below!
