Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I'm a 21 year old beat-maker from Ames, Iowa and I've been making beats for almost 3 years. I work as a bartender and go to school when I'm not working on tracks or making loops. DatVast was just something random I thought of when I was trying to come up with a name for myself. I was trying to think of words that represented the broad spectrum of music that I make ranging from edm to hip hop beats. DatVast is like the vast style that I try to have, I don't want to limit myself to one genre because you learn a lot more about music from listening to different genres.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I try to be influenced by most things that I hear, whether it's a synth or a chord progression I hear that I know I could do differently. My influences cover everything but country, I hate country music. But since getting my first walkman I'd say I went from heavy metal and screamo to dubstep and edm, right over into the hip hop pool which led me to trap and what not. Always straying away from country.

What´s new right now?

Right now I'm working on gaining a following on looperman by posting short melodic loops that other people can use royalty-free in their beats. Seems to be working out pretty well so far. But I've always got a project I'm working on, my beats folder is full of first and second draft. I get tired of a project easily so it really has to be something good for me to get to that third draft stage. I plan on putting out a couple more fire beats in the coming weeks. I'm working on a couple collaboration projects right now with some people from looperman who've reached out to me via soundcloud, hopefully we can put out some hard hitting tracks and get some people to listen.
