Dave C. Monty

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Blessed with a lifetime involvement in music, a passion that fills me with gratitude and an open hearted approach to life.
Music has been a my fire since I was a young child.
I am thankful for all opportunities that I have been given to socialize and create with a vast variety of personalities and energies.
From my days as a teen; banging out songs with friends in my parents basement, or currently recording in a studio with other motivated individuals. I am extremely thankful for what music has privided for me, and what I see it do for others.
I am fortunate to know what it feels like to take the stage as a band unit and perform to both empty and full rooms.
My life is complete with music; both currently working in a music store and actively creating and performing music.
And in this I am full with love and gratitude.

How would you describe your style and genre?

I have never felt restricted to any single genre or style of music. I am happy to be involved in any project that comes from a place that is pure and from the heart.

Who are your biggest influences and idols … and why? Do you have any idols? Are you a super fan of anyone? (Dead or alive, musician or non-musician)

My biggest influences could be generalized into two categories; the first being any professional musicians that I felt were creating art for the world and not apologetic in doing so. Saying and playing from their own human experiences, putting themselves out there and having the bravery to do so. Their musical products became an immeasurable force to my existence.
The second group of influences would be all of the peers that I have been afforded the luxury to be around. The friends that have invited me to be a part of their musical processes, have been involved in mine, and those that I simply got to enjoy from a close perspective.

What´s new right now? What should our readers know about that is coming up from you?

I am currently working on improving as an individual musician first and foremost which brings me the most joy.
I am playing drums and creating music with Surfdub  ( )and we are close to releasing an album.
Providing vocals and creating with Sugar Ghost ( ) as well on working on a solo acoustic project (stay tuned –
I have also been involved with a project called SolidRed off and on over the last 6-7 years (
