Well in short I am a Dj and former promoter. I have been playing out regularly on the London club circuit since the start of 2010, actually I can remember my first proper London booking was at a club called The Roxy, on Tottenham Court Rd, for a night called Choke. It was the night before New Years Ever going into 2010. I remember getting in there feeling pretty nervous, the club wasn’t very busy yet but I remember the DJ’s before were playing Genius Crew – Boom Selection, this was a point where UK Garage wasn’t that popular, there was a lot of Dubstep an Electro sort of stuff floating about, and I felt more confident knowing the DJ before me was playing that track, anyway I played the next set, I played a mixture of uk garage, fisher house and grime, and it couldn’t have gone any better, I remember meeting someone from Tomb Crew there going mad when I played Wiley – Mourge he said he’d never heard it in a club before and at this point there was hardly any Grime being played, not like how huge it is now, the place and dance floor was rammo by the end of my set. The promoter then gave me a residency after that and the DJ before me turned out to run an event in Camden which he also gave me a residency for. Before I knew I had two residency’s under my belt after my first proper London booking the rest is history.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My taste in music has really gone full circle over the years, and I really feel like this happens all the time in music. Music is like fashion, different sounds will always comes back again over the years just like clothes, round and round in circles. I remember the first vinyl I bought back in 2001 (I didn’t even have decks yet!) it was a UK Garage white label called 007 Licence to Kill by a producer called Soverign. My early influences at the very start we’re all the big DJ’s and Mc’s on the garage scene. I was always buying Tape Packs and listening to pirate radio DJ EZ, Fonti, Masterstepz, Jason Kaye, Norris da Boss Windross, Mike Ruff Cut Loyyd, these were my early influences, but then I started really getting into the crews coming in, Pay As You Go Cartel, Heartless Crew, So Solid, the style of mixing was different from the DJ’s the sounds were a bit darker an the MC’s were really spitting lyrics, raw lyrics, instead of just hosting like the other garage Mc’s. I started to notice a difference in the music I was buying in record shops, it was changing, Garage was turning into grime before it was called Grime and I fell in love with it. I still have all my old vinyl to this day I have a huge grime collection of white labels from 2002 to about 2005. I changed from grime at about 2005 I started to get into house an electro this was the big thing, but I mixed it the same style I mixed Garage and Grime so I was different from regular House DJ’s, about 2007 I really got into this French label called Ed Banger Records, artists like Justice, Feadz, SebastiAn, I started playing French House an electro for a while because of this, untill the end of 2008, then I switched to Dubstep and then after living in Ibiza I went back to house again, I was playing a lot of deep and tech house in Ibiza when I worked out there so i started playing It when I got back to the UK. So you can see I’ve really dabbed with a lot of different genres over the year’s. Anyway going back to what I said about music and fashion, Uk Garage and Grime both came back again, and in a massive way. So naturally, now, again, I’m playing a blend of Uk Garage // Grime // 90’s Garage mixed together. Music round and round in circles, just like fashion.
