Read the DREVVVVOLF (Drew Wolf) Interview below and share it on social media.
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I was born Andrew Rivera in Denver, Colorado in 1997. I moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in the early 2000’s and started creating original Underground Rap/Hip-hop music since the start of 2017. I love the culture and the positive messages that it stands for. You can buy/stream/download all of my projects on most major music streaming sites.
My personal favorite track: Underground Flow
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I have always been into music since I was a youngin, listening to groups such as CAKE, TPOTUS, The Beastie Boys, and Hollywood Undead. I was really into Hardcore music in my early high school years and quickly transitioned to Hip-hop/Rap during my senior year. My biggest influences are Wiz Khalifa, because of what he stands for and his positive vibes. Wifisfuneral because of the challenges he had to overcome, as well as his gnarly flows. Shout out to the Buffet Boys, Fat Nick & Pouya, they showed me that with hard work and a will to succeed, any dream is accomplishable, and they were a huge reason why I am pursuing mine today. I’d also like to give honorable mentions to Denzel Curry and Yung Lean, for just making great music that helped me through some tough times.
What´s new right now?
WAXED – Feat. Sato Seto will be dropping very soon so stay tuned, you can find the links to all of my social media accounts on my Soundcloud, which I will link below.
I appreciate all the love and support! I will continue to pump out great music, return the love by attending the many shows I will be performing throughout 2018.
What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
My biggest mistake was thinking that if I make good enough music it will spread and speak for itself. That us not the case. If no one hears your music, no on can share it or enjoy it. Build a following and promote, market, and network constantly. It will pay off big time in the long run because you’ll have a solid foundation for the rest of your career.
Do you have insights on how to grow your audience on soundcloud that you want to share with our audience?
I have found with Soundcloud, it’s all about engagement. If you spend a few hours a day finding artists/fans with similar music styles/tastes, and leaving a comment or maybe even a repost if you truly enjoy the track, there is a high chance they will return the favor. Just be genuine. No one likes a fake.
What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
My biggest challenge right now is making time for everything I have to do. I am slowly overcoming this challenge, and I know with hard work, everything will work out and the pieces will fall into place.
