Check out and share our Egomi Interview. This interview is part of our new Producer & Engineer Q&A Series. In this interview series we feature exciting producers, mixing and mastering engineers from all walks of life. As always: Share & Support!
Please introduce yourself real quick. Tell our audience about your background and how you go into doing what you´re doing right now.
It started with a box of Cheez-Its. I was eleven years old and wrote a song on my guitar about how I wanted Cheez-Its. When I wanted to record it, I used a simple voice recorder. I enjoyed the experience so much, I recorded it again… and again… and agaaaaiiiiin. Eventually I decided to download the Audacity freeware on my windows XP computer and buy a cheap Radio Shack (RIP) microphone and record it into my computer. The process was very fun, so I did it again… and again… and agaaaaiiiiin. Mind you it was the same song I kept recording over and over. Eventually I looked into actually purchasing software to record my Cheez-Its song, so I did. And I recorded it again… and again… and agaaaaiiiiin. I have many recordings of this song. Once I decided to move onto recording a different song, the world of music production was at my fingertips with this production software… and I sucked at it. With time I learned how to make dubstep and electronic dance music, so I developed in that for years, until I eventually moved to creating hip-hop as well as any other genre the world would throw at me. Now I happily create anything I get the opportunity to create, nomatter what the genre.
Please tell our audience what projects have you been working on in the last years?
After working at Reach Records for a period of time, I was able to witness the inside of the music industry and be able to play a small part in the creation of such projects. Leaving that only motivated me to work even harder to set my foot in the door of the industry and make a living doing my dream. I have been able to work on projects for many different artists, including Tedashii, Derek Minor, and even music for XXL magazine. I enjoy it all.
What are you currently working on? Do you accept clients and and what kind of projects/work fits your profile?
I currently am working with quite a few different hip-hop artists as well as artists that need edm-influenced rap instrumentals. I enjoy creating unique sounds and styles for different artists, and I am willing to take on even more artists in the future! Creating art is one of my favorite things to do, so anybody willing to do that I am down with.
