Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hello Traxx24 readers
My name is Emma, I am a DJ and producer based in Manchester (England).
I am best known for my work under the name 'Emma Clair' which is Electro Swing, House and Nu Disco. You can hear my sound here:

but I also have 2 aliases. Puls'em (techno/tech house)
https://soundcloud.com/djpulsem
and Klayer (Psy Trance)

I've been DJing since 2008. When I first started out, I learnt to mix on vinyl, playing hard house and trance under the name 'Cheeky Beats'. I made the move onto cdjs a couple of years later, when a lot of record labels stopped pressing vinyl. I still have my 1210s at home and I am so glad I learnt the art of beat matching on vinyl. To any new DJs just starting out, I can't emphasise enough how important this is.
Fast forward to 2018 (10 years later!) and I now work as a profesional DJ. I hold residencies at some of the top venues in Manchester and I also get to play some pretty cool club and festival gigs. As well as running my own club night called Prohibition and producing my own music.
You can hear one of my Electro swing tracks here:

Not familiar with Electro Swing? The best way to describe it is, music from the 1920s remixed for the modern day!
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I have so many influences which has resulted in me having an eclectic sound and not just playing one genre. As I mentioned I first started out as a hard house DJ. I still like hard house but I don't play it out anymore.
As a kid I was into pop music and some cheesy dance, I think this has influenced where I am today with my love of fun and upbeat sounds!
Over time my tastes have changed, but one thing that has stayed the same is my love of vocal driven music. If I find percussion driven tracks that I like, I quite often turn them into vocal tracks by mixing acapellas over them in my DJ sets.
What´s new right now?
2018 is shaping up to be a great year for me! In 2017 I was asked to be resident DJ for a UK based Electro Swing brand called the roaring 2.0s. I have gigs coming up for them in Cardiff and Oxford at 2 beautiful vintage venues! My club brand 'Prohibition' turns 5 this year and I am really excited about the birthday party we are holding on the 6th April at The Ruby Lounge in Manchester .
I also have some festival gigs booked in and some club events for my side projects, as well as my regular bar residences at Impossible, Gaucho and the Fitzgerald.
This year I will be spending more time focussing on my production, it's great fun DJing but it is even more fun and rewarding making beats and shaping your own sound.
You can follow me on Facebook for all my gig news.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?
I have a slight obsession or should I say admiration of Mark Knight (techno/house music producer and Toolroom records label boss). He is a master of his craft and at the very top of his game. I finally got to see him DJ at an event in Manchester last year and it absolutely blew me away! I can't say why I like him so much, in comparison to others, maybe it is because he has such a unique sound
