Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I am ENTEI, previously I was known as Kryptech but I chose to start fresh with a new name once I began to take music more seriously about a year and a half ago. I have been DJ'ing at a nightclub in downtown San Diego called "Bassmnt" for almost a year now but prior to that I was playing smaller underground raves and parties. Within this year I also began learning how to produce music using ableton and I truly believe that I have found my passion in doing so. DJ'ing has always been incredibly fun for me but nothing beats the feeling of creating a song from scratch that you truly enjoy. Currently I am making more house music these days but I do also make dubstep and trap as well. It really just depends on my mood and who is inspiring me at the time.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years? Do you feel that changing tastes over years as artistic growth? ?

Lately I have been inspired by a wide range of EDM artists such as, Sumthin Sumthin, Bandlez, Virtual Riot and Chris Lorenzo, and I think this is due to the fact that I am getting deeper and deeper into the producer realm (so to speak) and finding new appreciation for all of the different genres within EDM. Before I had learned how to produce music I was a little more narrow-minded when it came to the music I listened to. I mostly stuck to house, dubstep and trap but learning production has allowed me to see all the hard work that producers of each genre put into their music each in their own way and I find that fascinating.

What´s new right now?

I recently opened for Trollphace which was really fun and was the first time I was on the same line up as one of my idols which felt amazing. Next month I am going to be opening for the G Jones b2b EPROM tour featuring Mad Zach which I am so stoked for because all three of them are legends in the making and kill it live. I also am beginning to send my music to labels which is a little intimidating but its a milestone that I have been hoping to hit ever since I started doing all of this.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

Simply uploading mixes to soundcloud and mixcloud has gotten me some opportunities but also connecting with managers/promoters of clubs and events is a great way to get started.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

How do you promote yourself? Do you have any specific promotion tips for other musicians?

Honestly, just getting your name out there as best as you can on any/all social medias is a good way to promote yourself. Connect with people, face to face is best although even over facebook is sometimes all you need but knowing someone personally that can help you advance your career is incredibly valuable in this industry. Help others as much as possible and someday they might help you as well.

We meet again in one year. What has changed?

My goals for this next year is to first off get a release on a label and start growing my portfolio as a producer rather than just a DJ. I also hope to open for more of my idols and learn from them to hopefully be in a position similar to theirs someday soon. I would like to expand my reach in terms of places I play/have played at, LA Promoters hmu lol.
