Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I'm Gabi Gotts and I'm a singer/songwriter and producer. I'm a current student at Berklee College of Music in Boston and my hometown is San Francisco, CA. I write mainly pop and piano ballads for both myself and other artists, and I produce a lot of pop and some R'n'B and other eclectic genres, again, for both my own songs and for other artists. I'm constantly collaborating with other artists, especially at Berklee where the level of musicianship is unparalleled. I spend my life either producing new tunes in my makeshift recording studio in my dorm room, writing new songs in a practice room at three in the morning, or collaborating with other producers and writers in Boston. My aim with the music I create is to give that limitless and infinite feeling to whoever is listening – you know when you hear that one song and your soul just melts into it? That's what I'm trying to create.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My parents have always been into pop, so that was what I was exposed to a lot as a kid. I grew up with the radio playing around the house and in the car, with my mum singing at full volume to the latest Katy Perry or Ke$ha song, or my dad bobbing his head to Maroon 5 or Mark Ronson. I come from a very music family – in fact my parents are actually in a band together and my brother is a budding jazz pianist and drummer – so there wasn't ever a time where music wasn't present in my childhood.
I'd say in recent years, though, I've been most inspired by minimalistic and indie electronica, R'n'B, neo-soul, future bass, grime and hip hop, trap (I have to admit it), tropical house, and pop. The songwriters and producers I most look up to are Joni Mitchell, Ed Sheeran, Kodak to Graph, Cashmere Cat, Benny Blanco, Max Martin, Justin Tranter, Tom Misch, Bon Iver, Catching Flies, Logic, and ODESZA.

What´s new right now?

I'm currently in the process of finishing producing my first EP, which will be available on Spotify, iTunes, and many other streaming platforms – that should be released within the next month or two. Aside from that, I'm also working on a few projects with other artists at Berklee – when finished, those tracks will be available on Soundcloud first, and then possibly Spotify.

In the meantime I have a lot of my music already on Soundcloud.
