Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hi, my name's Hyun Yang, and I'm a 13-year old music producer operating out of Old Bridge, New Jersey. I mostly specialize in glitch, garage, and ambient, but recently I've been branching out and working on some harder, more midtempo electronic. Those're still on the backburner though.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
Well, at first my inspirations were dancey, mainstream artists. Chipzel, Pegboard Nerds, and Savant are among the ones I can piece together right now. Nowadays, though I'd say my inspirations have changed. Kendrick Lamar, Burial, Direct, Protial, SOPHIE, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Shadient, Sakuraburst, and Bill Wurtz tend to inspire me- some of these less clear than others. These artists all did (and a lot of them still are) doing something crazy and innovative to the creative world, and I'm always so excited to see what they'll come out with next.
What´s new right now?
I have a BIG project in the works that I definitely need an audience's help with. It's a bit of an odd request, but I need people reading out various poems- preferably those dealing with the subject of memory, life, death… things that we still don't understand. Send them to me over my email, contacthyunyang@gmail.com. I'm also on the prowl for up and coming artists- which is also why I ended up here. Send me your tunes- I'm always excited to hear new talents.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
The biggest mistake I've ever made was forcing myself back to square zero. I've always been uncertain, and because of my own decisions, I've deleted and remade my SoundCloud plenty of times. I've blown through aliases. I've gone through styles. I'm still not too sure about myself. My advice to newcomers: Keep at it, and even if your gut hates it, think of what your vision is, and how great it will feel when you finally make it.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
My biggest challenge right now is trying to find a way to make what I love and love what I make, and I think I'm steady on the path to doing so.

How do you personally discover new music?
Most of my friends like to link me music, mostly from artists they listen to. I've been listening to Death Grips, clipping., and SOPHIE a lot recently because of my friends, actually!

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?
“Typically, I just run up to my friends and say, "Yo, this' dope, listen to it!"

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
Well, besides not stopping, feedback is one of the most valuable resources one can easily get. There are plenty of free masterclasses out there from people like Rusko, Frequent, and Deadmau5, and there are even more free tutorials at your disposal (Rocket Powered Sound is probably my personal favorite.) Never be afraid of experimentation- some of the best sounds I've made are accidental. And most importantly, don't be afraid to take breaks. Music doesn't have to be everything. Clear your mind. Think straight.
