Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I’m J. Kong, an 18 year old DJ and Producer originally from Surrey but now based in London. I’ve been producing for just under three years and have received support from artists such as Albzzy, AC Slater and Sammy Virji as well as plays on radio stations like Rinse FM and Kiss FM.
Over the past few months I’ve been playing a lot round my home town as part of the Breeze Collective and have been fortunate enough to support headliners such as DJ Hazard, Macky Gee and Darkzy.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
Growing up I listened to a lot of Classic rock, Funk and Jazz and then over time I developed a love for Reggae, Hip Hop and Jungle and in fact I actually started in producing jungle. I was fairly late in getting into garage but I remember listening to the track ‘Get over you’ by DJ Q a few years ago and instantly becoming enamoured with all things UK Garage and Bass.
I always try and incorporate elements from across different genres into my music and to keep things fresh and exciting. I think my track ‘Why Not’ is a good example of this:

What´s new right now?
I’ve got a lot of projects coming in the new year which I’m really excited about, including both singles and more extensive works.
To round of 2017 though I have an upcoming single on the ‘Albzzy Selects’ EP being released on U Wot Blud? Records which I can’t wait for. I’ve worked a lot with the label and I couldn’t be happier with how they’ve handled the releases including my latest EP (J. Kong – The Groove). Albzzy too is a great artist who I’ve collaborated with in the past and who I am excited to be working with again soon.
