My Name is Kerry Blu. I am a Singer Songwriter/Rapper based in Brooklyn NY, by way of Winston-Salem NC. I am the Founder, and Chairman of the Empire State Music & Arts Festival, and I have been a freelance Columnist for the last 5 years.
What do you do?
I have been really fortunate in my career up to this point. I have opened for artist like Torey Lanez, Dave East, Fetty Wap, and Kota the Friend to name a few. I've performed at over 80 venues nationwide including the Fillmore of Charlotte, Bowery Electric, Rockwood Music Hall, and Hits Factory Studios. From my travels i've learned that collaboration is the key to creativity and pushing culture. I'm so thankful I have the opportunity to work very closely with an independent artist community called BK Wildlife, which is based in Brooklyn NY, where they run the largest indie Music Festival in New York City (BKWildlife Festival). Newly, I was hired as the Hip- Hop Music Director for an Off-Broadway play at the Flea theater opening in February 2018, and i'm currently working on two screenplays that will start production in the fall of 2018. Performing has also revealed to me a need to teach. I want to share all the experiences I have accumulated from my time on stage. 3 years ago I was given that opportunity. I accepted a job to teach songwriting workshops and still continue to teach today. All of these en devours lead me to create The Empire State Music & Arts Festival, which has grown exponentially over the past 4 years; reaching artist and audience in the 1,000's from all over the globe. My Artistic vision as a musician, writer, and curator is to bridge the gap between performance art genres, and show the connectivity each one of them shares.

On January 22nd i'm releasing a new single on Spotify, entitled "Mista". "Mista" is a Blend of Rock and hip hop. I'll also be performing on January 30th at 8:30pm at The Paperbox In Brooklyn NY.
