Devon Smalls aka King F.O.C.U.S is a underground MC and Hip hop artist from Denver, Colorado. King F.O.C.U.S has been crafting songs and stories for a long time by creating a parallel and bridging the gap between old school boom bap lyrical rap with new age sounds and creations. Listeners from all the around the world on soundcloud reverbnation and beyond have been gravitating towards the relatable story lines and edgy sounds. How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I Truthfully am a huge super fan at heart and I have lots of influences but the most notable would be NOTORIOUS BIG. Being a kid spending time in Queens NY and seeing the way things were being done by him gave me the confidence as a big man myself that I can really tell my story and spread my dreams. The wu tang clan , listening to NAS ILLMATIC album a 100 hundred times over and the cadence of legends like rakim and krs one gave me the drive to really do music. MY INFLUENCES definitely change over time because there is lot of young artist who inspire me all the time so its a constantly involving thing.
What´s new right now?
I just rocked my first live show of the year last night at Cervantes ballroom in Denver and it was amazing!!!!!! I will posting promo footage real soon. I will be releasing new music for my fans this week NEW SINGLE CATCH THE VIBE coming on soundcloud and kingfocus303.net STAY TUNED IN!!
