Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hello! This is Michael aka KORO•MA. I am still convinced I have no idea what Im doing when it comes to making music but its the only true way I can express myself. My music making process consists of me smashing my face onto a keyboard until something cool happens. I grew up in New Jersey with an obsession with teaching myself new instruments which led to an obsession with creating my own music. I've been making melodic electronic music for years now but recently I've been moving towards more chillwave/indie type music. I want to make music that listeners can really get encapsulated in. Not just music to dance to, but music they can really vibe with on an emotional level. Honestly my music seems like its all over the place but my life is all over the place and my thoughts are all over the place so my music directly reflects that. Sometimes I want to make an acoustic ballad and sometimes I want to make a dark heavy bass driven track, so right now I am working on finding a sound that can smoothly mix these different genres and sounds. I recently moved to Tokyo and do not have the equipment to make the music I want at the quality I want it to be. But living in a new country and living a new life has given me the perfect opportunity to find my new sound. Here are a few songs I've worked on in the past year. If only one person enjoys listening to my music, I'm happy. Cheers!

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
Throughout my life I've had so many different musical influences. I love to incorporate many different musical elements into my songs so I can find inspiration in the strangest of places. I remember when I was first learning to create electronic music my biggest influences were of course, Daft punk and the legendary Justice. I always new I wanted to make electronic music, but I loved indie and rock music as well. I had a huge phase in my life where I only listened to bands like the Strokes, Kings of Leon, Gorillaz and Muse. All of these artists would have a huge impact on my music making process. The past two years I have been going back to listening to electronic music. Recently my biggest inspirations are artists like Illenium, Lane 8, Porter Robinson, ODESZA and honestly anyone from the Foreign Family Collective. My musical influences have changed throughout the years but my taste has not changed.
What´s new right now?
I am always making new music, and now I am working on reinventing my sound. I will be releasing new music very soon. I am working on putting together a four song EP that I will be releasing in the next couple months. If you've read this far, thank you.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
One of my biggest tips to improving your music production skills is to really put in the time to learn the mixing and mastering stage. Mixing and mastering is in itself an art and should be taken seriously, if not more seriously than creating the actual song. You can have an amazing song but if its not mixed and mastered properly than it will quickly get drowned out.
