Read the Krampelli Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hello all, thank you for taking the time to check out my interview. I go by the name Krampelli, which is a combination of my first name, last name, and mother's maiden name. I am a house and tech house music producer and DJ. You can find most of my music and latest releases and mixes on my soundcloud and other social media platforms.

I had my first official release on Matilda Label (http://matildalabel.com/) in August of 2016, the release being titled 'True Grit' consisting of 2 tracks, titled 'True Grit' and 'Tech In My House'. My second release was in November of 2016 on WHITE RCRDS (https://whitercrds.com/) and the single has been my most successful to date and is a vocal house track titled 'Make A Step'. You can find them on beatport, juno, itunes, spotify and traxsource.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I have always been drawn to underground genres of music. Hardcore, punk and metal music was my first musical love and has always spoken to me on a personal level. I am also an avid listener of classic hip hop. On the flip side of all of that, within the last 5 years or so I have found an almost unhealthy relationship with dance music, and I mean that in the best way possible.

My favorite genres are house and tech house, but I also enjoy most other genres under the dance umbrella; such as trance, deep house, techno and some big room (gasps!) Being from New York, I have been surrounded by so many different kinds of people with all different kinds of backgrounds and musical tastes, which has helped me maintain an open mind. I like to think that my musical tastes swing back and forth like a pendulum.

What´s new right now?

Since the beginning of 2018, I have been focusing most of my attention on creating more original tracks. I hope to have some live shows planned within the next few months as well, as I love to DJ and play for people. My next official release is through the great people again over at WHITE RCRDS and is titled 'Piano Piano' and it drops on March 2nd, so keep an eye out for that!

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

When you see an artist who truly loves what they do and also connects with their fan base on the reg, that really resonates with me. I love seeing an artist behave like a human and give back to their fans.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

My biggest mistake was focusing too much on trying to create sounds. So I started focusing more on arrangement, how to automate properly, basic eq and songwriting, etc. Getting the basics down. And also realizing that learning it all wasn't a race. Learning anything new requires patience. It took me 2 years to finally start making songs I was proud of, and I am much more confident now that I spent 2 years learning everything I could about music production. I spent countless hours reading forums, books, articles, and watching videos to soak up any information I could.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

My biggest challenge for a while, like most young aspiring producers I'm sure, was finishing songs. Once I powered through songs, even if they were bad, did I finally start to learn and progress both musically and technically.

How do you personally discover new music?

I spend at least an hour every day browsing several different music sites and downloading/purchasing anything that I find interesting, wether it's for DJ use or personal enjoyment.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

So many different ways to improve, and so many different ones have helped me. Set apart certain times to practice certain things, meaning spend X amount of time during a session focusing on maybe sound design, or eq, or arrangement, etc. Setting up custom templates helped me tremendously as well. Not being afraid to finish a song, even if you know it's going to be bad. I promise you will take something from that session that you learned and apply it to the next project.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?

When I have trouble finishing a track, I don't look to finish it in a sense that every detail needs to be polished, but instead to apply basic eq, compression, and arrangement techniques. Finish the song from beginning to end,

We meet again in one year. What has changed?

No matter where I am in a year, I know I will be smarter, more focused, and be happy to have achieved everything I have up to this point. I'm not going to make any predictions, but if the progress I already made has motivated me, I hope to keep the momentum going.
