Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
My name's Kurtis, I'm a 22 year old indie artist from the UK who makes mostly Rock music, which predominantly is the music I love making, however lately I've been trying to write music that would sound great in film score. I'm always trying to push the boundaries in terms of what I can do as a musician and this latest challenge for me I'm finding quite interesting. I have multiple projects which Im working on just now and at times it's a little difficult to keep on top of everything, but I do hope to have an album released by the end of next month.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
Pretty much anything in Alex Turner's repertoire, especially Arctic Monkey's early, more hard-hitting stuff. Whatever hits hard and packs a punch my ears will usually pick up. When I first started making music a couple of years ago, I found myself gravitating towards bands like Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Blur and The White Stripes. Of course over time my tastes have changed a little but I'm still awfully fond of those guys. There's also this Scottish rock band called the Amazing Snakeheads who released an album called 'Amphetamine Ballads' in 2014, I thoroughly recommend it to anyone, it played a huge part in how I thought about music.
What´s new right now?
I hope to finish an album by the end of February. If you check my out Soundcloud and look for tracks titled, "She's Playing with Matches", "Come On" and "Homeless to Hollywood" you'll get a good idea of what the album's gonna sound like. Once I get that out there I'll most likely try and play the material live at some point.
