Exclusive Interview With LEONARDO PIVA
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I started doing the dj in 1986 only as a hobby occasionally, but it was in 2000 that I started making the first official nights in the clubs. Since 2010 I started my adventure as a producer, which gives me the opportunity to fully express the musical taste that at that time represents me.
How would you describe your style and genre?
My style is purely House. I look for modern sounds and powerful grooves, but always with a mark belonged to disco / funk sounds.
Everyone has their own style, it is not about differences, but how they express themselves with music.
Who are your biggest influences and idols … and why? Do you have any idols? Are you a super fan of anyone? (Dead or alive, musician or non-musician)
I love funk and disco, I think the movements that most influenced the clubbing scene on the music level.
My idols are based on who started this and who carried it forward (Lerry Levan, Frankie knuckles, MAW, Dennis Ferrer, Mertinez Brothers, Kerri Chandler, Ralf)
What´s new right now? What should our readers know about that is coming up from you?
2017 is very profitable at the image level and for productions. I joined the FRED PERRY team, and 9 track/ep have already been released on various labels. The best support would be to listen to my songs and buy original copies.
What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
You do not know how to play an instrument. My advice? Be sure to play before you produce, so your music will be more personal.
How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?
I try to adapt my style and my music to the club where I have to perform.
What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
The biggest challenge is to imagine playing the piano, the road and the long one, but I would like to do it sooner or later.
How do you promote yourself? Do you have any specific promotion tips for other musicians?
I use social communities, especially instagram currently
We meet again in one year. What has changed?
I do not know. The work of the dj is so strange, that I might be at the top as having stopped
