M.O.B

Read the M.O.B Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I am a 24 year old electronic music producer, originally from the Republic of Moldova. I have lived in many countries and I started producing when I was around 14 years old but music has always been a part of my life. When I was 5 years old I would sometimes be taken to the local disco in my village where I could hear music from different countries being played and could experience the nightlife. I have always collected music wherever I go, recording radio stations, finding unique music from different countries and palying it to audiences that have never heard anything like it. One day after school I went to my Nigerian friends house where showed me a hip hop beat he was working on on a program called FL studio. I went home downloaded it for myself and never looked back.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

House is the biggest genre in Moldova and is always played on the national radio or nightclubs, it heavily influenced me in my music. Dirty Dutch House, Moombahton, Trap and other bouncy genres are all massive influences to me due to the fact that I lived in The Netherlands for many years. Dubstep, Hardocore, Hardstyle and Drum and Bass also played their part. When moving to The UK, Deep House, Tech House, Techno, Bassline and Bass music starting playing bigger roles in what I listen to and make. Even though I used to listen to these genres before it is only when I heard the likes of AC Slater's new stuff, Chris Lorenzo, Taiki Nulight and My Nu Leng that I knew what I wanted to make and thats how my journey with M.O.B started. House has always been and always will be my favorite genre.

What´s new right now?

I have a few original releases coming up on different labels aswell as a few collaborations with various artists. I also have a few gigs lined up here in the UK but hopefully will be expanding internationally by 2018.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

Learn the basics of mixing it will help you a lot when it comes to laying down basses with kicks, which is like 70% of the work. Also don't worry about what other people are producing and just make things you enjoy.

Time is the biggest challenge a producer faces, how to make enough time for family, work, music, social life is very hard to find the answer. Still trying to figure this one out.
