M S P

Please introduce yourself real quick…

I’m a Nicaraguan American recording artist based out of Madison, WI. I’ve been recording and performing as a rapper since I was 19. Along the way I’ve rocked stages all over the country, went back to school to get my music degree, booked shows for different clubs and pretty much shaped the electronic music landscape in Wisconsin and in Madison especially. Influencer, trendsetter and all around taste maker I do what I do for the good of the overall music scene. I’ve always believed in all the incredible amounts of talent Wisconsin and Madison have hidden within it and it’s become my duty to showcase it to the world. If I make it everybody else does. I shine you shine we all shine together as the old saying goes.

What do you do?

Oh this is a big one for me as a guy that’s kind of keen on being hands on I tend to be involved with all aspects of everything I’m attaching my name to. Whether it be booking my own nights at clubs and having complete control of everything meaning, atmosphere, staff, decorations, genres and themes but his attitude extends to my music as well. I’m extremely picky about the beats I tap on. If it’s not a hit then I don’t want to rap on it. What I mean by that is that I have this uncanny abilty to spot a hot beat or hit in the making from the first eight bars of listening to it. Which makes picking out beats to work on a lot easier for me which also bleeds over to my electronic dance projects like Bvss Touchers and Cidel Fastro because as anybody in the industry knows track selection is key while designing live sets to play to massive crowds and the right combination of songs can create even more powerful moments than the original songs can on their own.
I don’t want to get overly carried away as I can chit chat about music and theory for way longer than anybody else actually cares to listen for so I figured I’d share a little bit about some of my upcoming projects and some previous accomplishments. My good friend D-Jahsta just released his new album in December “The Machine” which I have a feature on track 11 named TELEKINESIS. It’s the only track on the album that’s in all caps which I’m totally all for, shout to my CAPSLOCKCREW. Which leads me to another one of the collabs I’m currently working on with Butch Clancy which I’ve already pretty much Finshed just putting the extra finishing touches and that’s the track called Neon off his unreleased EP. a new guy to look out for is my good homie Arch. His sound design is beyond impressive for his age and I can only imagine where he will be in five to ten years. Before I end this segment I just want to thank all the companies that have been supportive of my musical movement through out the years with amazing bookings and treatment at their events. So lots of love to React, Live Nation, Mechanoid Audio, Free Love Digi, the whole ex Inferno staff, Liquid and Ruby Lounge, the Voodoo, the Cardinal, React Wisconsin, Surreal Nightlife , the city of Madison, All of Chicago, Stellar Sparks, the Majestic as well even with our falling out I never forget who was actually there for me at the beginning of my career. Huge shoutout to my big homie Token aka Cooper out of the twin cities and the Skyway theatre for giving us one of our biggest shows to date last year for New Years. It was an extreme honor to play the same night as some of our favorite artists and biggest influences. Here’s too many more magical evenings in the future and the crazy amount of surprises I have saved up for this Festival season. New albums currently in the works, just thought I’d sneak that in there

What´s new right now?

So make sure to check out all the new tunes that just hit starting with of course my first official major release on Mechanoid Audio which is with the legend himself, D-Jahsta. The whole album is pure fire. The track is called TELEKINESIS and I hope you guys show out some support. My journey started fifteen years ago and I can honestly say that I feel like I’m just getting started. I got so much inspiration and creative juices flowing right now that I could probably record a hundred albums this year alone. Other than my own project I’d like to say to check out any projects from other heavyweights in the bass music game such as the homies Adventure Club, Yookie, BTSM, Kai Wachi, Bailo, A Boy and A Girl, Vaski, Blunts and Blondes, Bandlez, Datsik, Butch Clancy, Excision, Dion Timmer, Alison Wonderland and of course everything and anything coming out of the MSP camp. Check out all my websites make sure to hit a like a comment a follow or whatever… any and all support is welcome and encouraged. I do offer vocal mixing services and mastering for cheaper than most big industry guys so people can inquire thru my email. If you are a believer in my movement and journey you can always donate to the cause. Right now we are taking donations to fund the merch machine that will helps us tour with ease and instead of outsourcing we want everything made in the America’s but as you know it’s more expensive so any and all donations are appreciated as they will help reduce all our overall costs as we gear up for our first tours. Thank you for all the support and love. The amount of positive and beautiful fan mail I’ve received over the course of my career is what has given me the strength to never give up. My email for inquiries or PayPal donations is muertesinpalabras@gmail.com and for anybody that’s doubting pursuing their dreams here is my advice, it’s not going to be easy but if you believe in yourself no matter what if it’s truly what you desire then you will achieve it. Never give up and always believe. I believe in all of you. Thank you so much for the interview guys I appreciate the opportunity. Stay blessed.

How do you personally discover new music?

Talking to my industry friends and ask them who and what they are listening to. SoundCloud has always been one of my greatest resources in discovering new producers and styles to play with. Always discover some innovators of sound on there. I also really love Reverbnation as it’s got great services for the independent musician. Highly recommend it to any and all musicians wishing complete control over their own projects.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

“I share on my social media sites or I’ll do a podcast to showcase the music or play at my restaurant to see how the customers in different demographics tend to like the tunes. There is no exact science to it but if I have a vice it is definitely sharing good music with the World.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

Well with writing it really just is a matter of repetition. It will take you a hundred songs written before you get your first solid one. It takes years to develop your own unique style so what I really advise is to think outside the box and don’t be afraid to be different from what you currently hear on the radio because by the time you become great at the style you were trying to emulate that style will be played out and no longer be commercially viable. Never be afraid to just be yourself, you’ll be amazed at how people will genuinely support you and your dream. Always believe in your abilities even when people try to tell you otherwise. Self belief is everything.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?

Sometimes it’s just better to have faith that you did all you could to make it sound the best with the ability you had available to you at that moment. If you get too hung up on chasing perfection you will never discover success thru each failure. But you can’t fail if you don’t try and tracks don’t release themselves but guess what even if you don’t think it’s good enough yet or whatever put it out because if it sounds good to you chances are it sounds good to someone else as well.
