Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
My name is Mads Stannius and I am a DJ and producer living in Denmark.
For those who don't know me, I go under the artistname Maratone. I play and produce trance music, which means for me music with emotions and energy.
How would you describe your style and genre?
Trance: Energy and emotions
Who are your biggest idols ever? Dead or alive, musician or non-musician.
Hmm, thats a tough question. I really admire Armin van Buuren for his style and all the work he does for the whole trance scene. But if you would have asked me, who is the artist you want to do a track with I might have said Michael Poulsen the leadsinger of Danish rock n roll band Volbeat.
What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
I think the biggest mistake I have made in my whole career might be to make music I thought others would like. If you keep working on the sound you believe in, you will achieve much much more!
How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?
I play only my own productions and mashups, in this way my sets will stand more out!
What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
Hmm, my biggest challenge is to stay focused in the studio and keep up the quality of my productions, but I think the last couple of years I have managed to stay clear and only push out the best of the best!
How do you promote yourself? Do you have any specific promotion tips for other musicians?
I think my biggest promotion comes though my radioshow and label. I don't think anybody shall do a label, as too many labels are releasing music that should never have been released. But a radioshow, or a podcast works really good for me. In this way I can both promote myself, and spread out the music that I believe in.
We meet again in one year. What has happened?
Hopefully I have played more live shows. That is my maingoal right now.
