Marc Ayats

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hi, I'm french Dj and Techno producer, label's owner of A-TRACTION rec since 2000. I released some tracks and remixes on my own label and on International Dj Gigolo (Dj Hell's label). I started to play techno since 1997 and I was resident on one the most famous French techno club a this period : L'An-fer (Laurent Garnier was on the most famous resident on 90's). I played with a lot of differents and famous artists like Vitalic, Agoria, Dj Hell, Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Miss Kittin, Terence Fixmer … After 2 years of break I'm back to studio and djing. I'll release a remix of Madben on the end of this year, another remix of french artist. And I'm working on a new project with my buddy Owlk.

How would you describe your style and genre?

I'm eclectic, I listened a lot of differents style of music when I was young EBM or NEW WAVE so I like all the kind of Techno, but my favorits is the dark, percussive and hypnotik music. After that depend when I play some time is more melodic and some time more rythmic.

Who are your biggest idols ever? Dead or alive, musician or non-musician.

For sure I'm big big fan of Front 242, Depeche mode and David Bowie.
on Electronic music I'm big fan of Laurent Garnier for his long gigs who tell us a magical history, Jeff Mills with his Rythmic and Hypnotic groove and Dj Hell for his vision and punk attitude !!

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

I'm not sure it was the biggest but it's mistake, I drunk a lot at the beginnings and I lost myself and don't respect my public, now I like to drink some glasses of good wines or vodka before my gigs but with limit.
And take your time to produce a good track and share with your fans when it seems finish for you, too much people post their track who should be produce by my young daughters, electronic music is easily to produce today because a lot of soft permits to produce music just with computer so creative is open to everybody and it's cool. It's like I was young I played guitar, everybody want to play guitars but I wasn't guitarist, I was just player.
Last advice, you like to play, but don't forget to be paid when you play, Dj & producer are job and you need to invest on your studio so money is necessary.

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

hmmm, that depend where I'll play and when but for me it's very important to tell an history with the tracks, I like long gigs to share my vision with the publics.
When I prepare my vinyls bag, I take my last favorits releases with some old stuff, and take USB all the time with a lots of differents songs who are not released on vinyls.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

I want to organize a big festival on my town with wines tasting and electronic music during 1 week so I'm working on for next year.
My biggest challenge…. produce more tracks then the past but it's not to difficult, because I released only 8/10 tracks on 17 years ^^.

How do you promote yourself? Do you have any specific promotion tips for other musicians?

I promote myself with social media, and working with English promotionnal company for all the release of my label since 3 years for Dj, magazine and radio.
I like to do some facebook live, alone or with some friends, I like to share on instagram some video when I start to produce new track… I like to share with everybody, it's the most important thing to do when you're Dj or forget it !! ^^

We meet again in one year. What has happened?

maybe I'll have one years more ahahahah
