MASS PANIC

Read the MASS PANIC Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Yo, this is MASS PANIC, I'm an upcoming producer based out of Las Vegas, NV. I love to produce dubstep, tearout, riddim, and pretty much anything with a lot of heavy sub-bass. I've been producing music for about 5 years now. I started on Apples Logic Pro 9 and used that for a couple years, and i recently just switched to Ableton this year of 2017. I've been going to EDM shows since 2012, my first real festival was EDC and it changed my life forever. When i saw the DJs up there just controlling the crowd and playing some of the sickest tunes on some of the loudest sound systems, i knew this industry was something i wanted to be part of forever. i thought of the name MASS PANIC because i like really heavy music, and dubstep is fueled with bass bending synths, extremely heavy bass, and pumped up crowds that mosh pit to the heaviest stuff. Nothing is more fun than being in a dubstep festival mosh pit with 200+ people, it's like absolute chaos….and for people that don't want to be in the pit, they become overwhelmed with a state of panic, they want to get out and away from this pit. With these monster crowds i'm going to go down as one of the heaviest dubstep DJs to ever hit the decks, and when i play a set the crowds will breakout into a frenzy of mosh pits, hence where i thought of the name, MASS PANIC.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My influences have changed over the years, but some of my absolute biggest influences have to be Excision, Snails, Virtual Riot, and Barely Alive. These are some of the best dubstep producers in the world, and they never disappoint when it comes to a set. The amount of tunes these guys crank out and then deliver at festivals is unreal, they have inspired me to really dig deep into music production and learn what makes a track truly hit so hard. Back in 2012 i was all mainstream, listening to Afrojack, Tiesto, Hardwell etc… but then i discovered the basspod at EDC in 2013. It was the first time i heard dubstep and i was like holy shit. Out of all the artists throwing down sets, nobody is throwing it down harder than the dubstep guys at basspod. It was the first time i realized that sub bass was meant to be felt, not heard, and ever since then i've been a pretty hardcore dub head. Dubstep is a growing genre that will be absolutely huge in the next couple years. The genre has evolved immensely and continues to grow in a new way everyday with different artists. Excision just launched Lost Lands 2017, and that was the biggest dubstep festival/lineup to ever be created, and it's coming back next year, so you could say dubstep is here to stay.

What´s new right now?

Right now i'm focusing on finishing up about 4 EPs worth of tracks to launch in 2018. I'm beginning to develop a heavy and unique sound that i'm perfecting everyday. I believe artists should have at least 50% of their own music thrown into a set, so having originals that sound unique is key when playing a show. Im actually one of the 4 owners of a large event company out in Las Vegas called EpicRaves. We focus on throwing heavy shows with custom stage production and we bring out some of the best upcoming producers in the game. Our last show we brought out Downlink, Dr. Ozi, Stabby, and Omegamode which was awesome. The crowds get pretty lit and we love bringing artists out that have never been to Vegas. We have a winterbass show coming up on 12/1 with Xilent, Tisoki, Svdden Death, and Chime, and it's always fun meeting these artists and interacting with them. Being a promoter is awesome because we get to make an impact on the community and on the dubstep scene as a whole. Ill probably play our 1 year anniversary show sometime around April in 2018, and i've been working with out of state promoters to help me get booked, so you might see me in your city pretty soon! I release new music pretty often, so be sure to check out my soundcloud to keep up to date with all my new tunes and shows.
