Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
My name is Kevin De Ridder, I am a breakcore DJ/producer from Belgium.
I started out as a DJ in 2011 and just started producing last year. My style can be described as rough, raw en noisy breakcore with an oldschool feel.
Since a few years I am also a member of the Ragga Terror Front crew. On an irregular basis we organise parties all over Belgium and release music through our label.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I discovered breakcore back in 2004. Before that, I mostly listened to music like techno, electro, industrial, hardcore, … Besides that I also listened to some breakbeat, drum 'n bass music. And when I discovered breakcore, everything I liked in those music styles came together, it was like my whole world exploded and music was redefined! I remember the exact moment very good, I accidentally downloaded a set from an artist called "Shitmat" which was labeled as drum'n bass. Best mistake ever! So I can definitely say Shitmat is an influence for me, but also other big artists from back in the day like Doormouse, Stunt Rock, Venetian Snares, Christoph Fringeli, Zombieflesheater, … But also artists from the newer generation like Wan Bushi and Mr Bad Monkey I can call an inspiration. And not to forget other music genres I listen to a lot like bass, dub, reggae, ska, punk, … also feed the creativity.
What´s new right now?
For the moment I am still discovering the world of producing, so hopefully a lot of new music will come soon.
