Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I am a hip-hop/electronic artist from Pennsylvania, currently based in Southern California. I've played the piano since I was 5 and have picked up a few other instruments along the way, but never considered creating my own music till about 3 years ago. Once I learned how accessible music production was and how easily I could apply my playing abilities to the creative process, I was hooked. From there, it's just been an exciting, challenging, and weird journey of self-discovery. I've loved all kinds of music and to be able to experiment with things like hip-hop, trap, and Korean contemporary music all in the same song is just a blast. I focus on chill hip-hop beats with Asian melodic influences, but lately I've also been branching out into trap music and experimenting with vocals: rapping, singing, screaming, crying, laughing (definitely just the first two.)
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My biggest musical influences have been Mac Miller, Chopin, Lil' Wayne, Green Day. Pretty diverse group for sure. They're artists whose styles really resonate with me and who I still listen to today, no matter how many times I've listened to them.
There's too many other artists to list, but I get a lot of creative influence from Asian melodic elements, dreamy/trippy beats, jazz music, and really dark, heavy trap music like $uicideBoy$. My taste in music is always changing, but I've always gravitated towards that type of music, which is definitely reflected in my production as well. I try and create a surreal, dream-like environment with my music. Sometimes they're happy and peaceful. Sometimes they're creepy and nightmarish.
Also, the Shrek/Shrek 2 Soundtracks are my shit.
What´s new right now?
I've got a lot of stuff coming up that I'm stoked to share with everyone! 2017 is kind of the calm before the metaphorical storm. I still have a few remixes and projects I'll be putting out on my SoundCloud before the year is through. Then in early 2018, I'll be releasing a new album currently called "Mortar and Pastel" as well as another unnamed side project I've been referring to as Old Boi. I've been focusing most of my time and energy into these projects so I've decided to hold off on gigs and shows until after their release. Be sure to follow my social media for all the latest news!
