Mister T.

Read the Mister T. Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My name is Dimitris Tentinis a.k.a. Mister T. I am from Greece and I could describe myself as a beatmaker, producer & dj. I started writing down my music ideas and making beats experimentally in 2001. Past classical music studies and my father's personal recording studio influenced and helped me on this new direction. In 2012 I released officially my first tracks by joining Cold Busted Records label (Los Angeles / USA) and since then counting 5 full length albums and many remixes and single tracks on compilations. I also released music (EPs, Single Tracks and Remixes) on Timewarp Music, Katakana Records, Digest Music, Shango Records and ChinChin Records (Germany).

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

Funk, Soul, Jazz, breakbeat and Hip Hop from 70's and 90's ERA are the basis of my sound. Always trying to capture that groove and that feeling. You can also find many influences from trip hop, dub and afro music. I love putting many styles on a record because I love diversity. From my first album ''Gentle Music'' (2012) to my latest one ''The Return Of The Classic''(2017) I believe my taste changed a lot and moved from pure funk style (100-120 bpm) to a kind of hip hop funk flavoured (85-105bpm).

What´s new right now?

December was a very busy month for me. 2 gigs, one in Sofia / Bulgaria (dj set) and the other in Thessaloniki / Greece (opening act) for the legends Coldcut (Ninja Tune) 30Years Anniversary Show. Plus many hours in studio trying to finish a new album project called ''Black Drop''. ''Black Drop'' will be released around April / May on my fav Cold Busted Records (Los Angeles. USA) and will be available on12Inch Vinyl / CD / Digital as well. Except hip hop and funk there are many references from 1920's music (prison songs) and there is a very special collaboration with greek MC Daddy Nek from Nekubi Tapes label.
Right now I would like to say for one more time a huge thank to my wife Emmanuela and to my son Nikolas for their unlimited love and support, to my parents and close friends. Tons of thanks goes also to all my music friends (djs, artists, beatmakers, bands, radio stations, bloggers, listeners, booking agents, promoters) for their daily support out there.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

Everytime I listening music, I am getting something. Sometimes is inspiration, sometimes is knowledge, sometimes is pleasure.
There are few artists / bands that deliver all that to me. Its hard to pick a fav but If I had to name some that would definately Thievery Corporation, Massive Attack, Coldcut, Pink Floyd, James Brown and Fela Kuti. After all that years of listening and digginng I still getting ''things''. This is the best reason I think for being such a fan.

There is no better tip than practice for sure. But practice I think improving only the production method, the sound, the time you need to finish a project. Theese are the tools to writte down your inspiration. I think the secret is to find what inspires you.
