Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I'm Mistrrr. Most of what I do is get frustrated in front of a computer until I somehow get the perfect melody, mix, master, etc. My tracks (including unreleased ones) are mainly big room and progressive house. I started making Melbourne bounce and then I got tired of it because it was the same kick bass pattern no matter how original you tried being.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My main influences were the big room house producers like Blasterjaxx and pre-STMPD records Martin Garrix. My taste changed over time when I started listening to smaller artists on Quartzo because the tracks are a bit more innovative. That's when I tried to step away from progressive house and classic big room. As of now, my influences would be Bitas, Jakik, and Factory DJs because they're really consistent at producing quality tracks.

What´s new right now?

I have a few tracks I want to release (most of them being big room and progressive Melbourne bounce track). Right now I'm trying to work more on my mixing/mastering so there's not a lot that will be going on at the moment.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

I'm 100% of Factory DJs. The first track I heard was Victory with the amazingly weird kick and super unique leads and breaks. Every other track was unique from the rest but was extremely easy to identify the artists.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

My biggest mistake when producing was putting a master chain before I started a track. Needless to say, that track got scrapped entirely because I could never find a way to finish it. My obvious tip is to not do that. My main top would be the EDM Production Discord channel (it's somewhere on Reddit go Google it) because you can get quality feedback on your tracks and talk with others about literally anything that has to do with music whether it be composition, mixing, mastering, etc.

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?

1. Download OBS
2. Get a screen recording if your project that you're working on.
3. Upload it to Instagram somehow.
4. Bomb it with hashtags (#insertDAW #insertVST #insertmultiplerelatedgenres)

Or…

Give away free project files on YouTube.

Do you have insights on how to grow your audience on soundcloud that you want to share with our audience?

Always make your downloads free. The Spinnin' Talent Pool is an excellent way to get free plays, reposts, likes, and followers. Don't try to get signed to Spinnin' through there though since you'll have to be able to give decent feedback on everyone's (and I mean literally everyone's) tracks or lie your way to the top. Even then, they probably won't sign unless you've been up there a few times and have a good fan base and a unique sound.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

My biggest challenge is getting the right mix and master along with producing good melodies and making those melodies fit well with other elements.

How do you personally discover new music?

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

Always reference other tracks. More often then not you'll be inspired by a certain track and get a really good melody or fix a mistake like not having enough bass. This really helps if you're not using decent monitors or headphones.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?

If you can't finish your tracks, sit down, and finish the project file. Don't close it until it's finished. If you have a new idea just write it on a notepad or something with whatever sound you want paired with it.
