MoVe OvEr DaLi are an acoustic 'bluesabilly' pop band based in Kent UK. They play at markets, festivals, barbecues and peoples' houses around the local area.The material is a mix of original songs and unusual covers in their own style.
David has had a number of songs published and released. As the co-writer and Producer of BIBA the Musical (2009) he has had a number of artists performing his songs (Andrew P Wood, Claire Hutchins, Magic Lili, Judge Dread, et al)
We are a mature lively band who have fun live and play with either a percussionist or drummer at larger gigs.
We are also part of the Acoustic Reverb Collective which is a local co-operative of around 45 acts doing gigs to raise money for local charities
How would you describe your style and genre?
Acoustic fun – rockabilly blues and rock based. Original songs and unusual (to us!) covers with a few old favourites thrown in
Who are your biggest idols ever? Dead or alive, musician or non-musician.
Bob Dylan, Sparks, Rag and Bone Man, Elvis (Presley and Costello),Lake Street Dive
What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
Not rehearsing enough and being convinced that my songs were already great without re writing
TIP listen to everything and try doing it to see what style suits – it may not be what you expect
How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?
Social Media – send stuff out – ask people – make special offer if gig is really exciting – beg!
What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
Getting paid decent money for gigs! Have sent out info to Ireland France and Belgium hoping to put a mini tour together
How do you promote yourself? Do you have any specific promotion tips for other musicians?
Try to say something original or different and refer to to Soundcloud/YouTube trax when relevant –don't just spam it all out
We meet again in one year. What has happened?
Our songs have been featured more on various radio shows and reviews in mags online, and we are seen as the mature masters and mistresses of maturer ACOUSTIC FUN
