Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I am Mr. Freezie (AKA Alex McWatters), a 22 year old male DJ & Electronic Music Artist from Los Angeles, California. I specialize in Future Bass music production though ive been influenced by more genres for example: Pop, Rap, Hip-hop, Trap, Jazz, Smooth R&B, Melodic Dubstep, Tropical House, Electro House, and more. I will start attending Icon Collective in January (same school slushii, krewella, slumberjack, borgore, getter, and many more stars went to). Currently working under Manager Brandon Rosen, I perform at the Avalon Nightclub in Hollywood, about to make my main-stage debut performance. I am spinning in clubs and smaller shows until I'm experienced enough to play a festival. My ultimate goal as a DJ is to perform under the insomniac brand. I absolutely love going to their events, that's my happy place!
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
Back in the day when I first started attending EDM shows was nearly a decade ago (9 years). i went to a small show called "High Five" and my life would never be the same afterwords. I was thrust head first into the wild and spectacular world of electronic dance music. This was the time when Techno was a more popular genre and Dubstep was just being introduced. I remember hearing my first dubstep song from 2008 "Kid Sister – Pro Nails (Rusko Remix)" thinking what on earth is this? My affinity for EDM flourished over the years due to inspiring artists such as: Adventure Club, Aero Chord, Aire Atlantica, Alan Walker, Alison Wonderland, Armin Van Buuren, Avicii, Basshunter, Benny Benassi, Blackbear, Bronze Wales, Calvin Harris, The Chainsmokers, Cunnin Linguist, Dash Berlin, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Delta Heavy, Dillion Francis, DROELOE, Elephante, Elle Goulding, Felix Cartel, Flume, Flux Pavilion x10, Foxes, Galantis, Illenium x50, Jane XO, Janji, Jerry Folk, Jon Bellion, Krewella, Kygo, Lemaitre, Lullabies, Luna Shadows, Major Lazor, Marshmello x100, Martin Garrix, Matthew Koma, Mickey Valen, MYRNE, Neo Noir, Nero, Ookay, San Holo, Seven Lions, Sex Whales, SLUMBERJACK, Slushii, Swedish House Mafia, Take Five, Troyboi, Vanic, Wafia, WOLFE, Yellow Claw, Zedd, Zeds Dead, Zella Day, Zhu. Within the last six months, a new passion seed sprouted called "Future Bass". This epic, emotionally complex genre has the depth and feels to hook its teeth into you and never let go.
