Read the N-Gine – Rock The Place EP Interview below and share it on social media.
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I go by the name N-Gine (Engine). I am a DJ/Producer from Chicago. My sound is more of a Future Bass and Dubstep (Riddim) feel. People ask me all the time like "why did I choose that name? or "Like a choo-choo train or like a car?". I chose this name because I love cars every since I was very young. My dad used to collect classic toy cars. Also, I love the machinery of cars and I found my love in music. I listened to Chicago House/Freestyle from the 80s as I grew up. I always loved funky rhythms and gritty basslines and was inspired in 2012 when I attended my first electronic music concert seeing Skrillex. So I decided to start making music in 2013. I have been focusing on my craft ever since. You can check out my music here: https://soundcloud.com/ngine5
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My influences changed sometimes depending on what direction of sound I want to go towards. I feel many artists hit their limits because they aren't really trying to adapt or challenge themselves to do different things. From a DJ perspective, my influences always stood the same from Julian Jumpin Perez and Bad Boy Bill because I felt like they are the best DJ's out there. But from a producer perspective that is always changing because there is always a new and fresh sound that can inspire many people. I want to focus on production mostly because I feel it can impact more people and build a better community of Electronic music.
What´s new right now?
The first song in my EP. "Scanner", is out already and the rest of the EP, "Rock The Place", is coming out on February 2, 2018.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
One mistake I made when I started in making music was not finding a mentor. Finding a mentor could make the process much quicker than doing on your own. It took me extra years to learn to make music and marketing without one!

How do you personally discover new music?
I look for music mostly in SoundCloud. Using hashtags to find genres and then look at new artists music to play out in sets. It is good to support other artists when you discover music. I also look at Spotify playlist, creating playlist also is great way to assemble new artist's music for others to listen
