Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hello! I am NeonWorlds from Lansing Michigan, and I make electronic music that I like to call a 'Neon Fever Dream'. It's a blend of future bass, synth-wave and everything in between. I got my start by DJ-ing at the age of 11 and I started producing my own music a few years later at the ripe age of 14. It all started as a hobby, something to do when I got out of school, but now it's more than that. Now i'm 19 and music has become a much bigger thing to me than 'just a hobby'.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I got into electronic music and DJ-ing when I first heard 'Discovery' by Daft Punk, all those synths and 'robot noises' were a brand new world to me. Previously my music tastes were comprised of Weird Al, Eminem, and Metallica… Music I was more or less into because my parents would listen to them, but when I discovered Daft Punk I started to grow my own tastes. From there I started listening to Deadmau5, Ephixa, Zeds Dead, Doctor P, Excision, Knife Party and Eric Prydz which all together paints a pretty clear picture of my tastes early on. This was the building blocks for my EDM journey, with my tastes set I spent ~25$ and bought the cheapest DJ controller an 11 year old could buy and started spinning.
Over the next 2-3 years I got more into DJ-ing and EDM and decided to start producing at age 14. My influences for producing vary a little from the previously mentioned artists though. During this time I heard the monster of a track "Lick the Rainbow" by Mord Fustang and Porter Robinson's "Spitfire EP" and fell in love with electro. During that time I produced my first 2 EPs, 'Minimal Music EP' and 'Summer Insomniac EP'. I did not stop there and continued to develop my sound, and along with it my influences that inspired my music.
Fast forward to 2016, I just released 2 EPs and a remix album. This time, with a new sound and style thats influenced by various genres and artists. It's when my 'Neon Fever Dream' music emerged and I started to develop my own style. A style influenced now by artists like Flume, $aturn, Shadient, Nujabes, Yung Lean, and Porter Robinson among a huge list of other inspirations. Through the years my tastes have remained the same, despite the many different changes NeonWorlds has undergone. Regardless of what im producing I stick to my roots of House, Future Bass, and Happy Hardcore for inspiration.
What´s new right now?
After the release of my 'Nostalgia EP' I went on a small hiatus to do a handful of shows and to work on rap music under the name Mort Vivant. (Which you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/mortvivantmusic)
Now its 2018 and im getting ready for a year of new releases and shows, both local and across the US. A new album is in the works, but before that i'll be releasing a handful of bootlegs and remixes that i've only been playing at shows.

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?
Connections! Connections! Connections! Find local artists and start networking, get your name out there and dont be too afraid to share your music with them if theyre interested. That, or release bangers and the gigs will come to you… I've done both methods and they work pretty well for getting your foot in the door for a local scene or venue.

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?
If you dont have people coming to you for this, you can research blogs and promotion channels that might want to feature your music. (If its good enough and fits their tastes of course) This is a great way to get your music out there. It not only gives you general exposure but puts your music out there for the whole world to see, not just your local scene or artists.
