Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hey guys! Im Nova, a young producer from the UK thats making pretty much anything im into at the time, from Dubstep and Future bass, to Rap beats and trippy Lofi tracks.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My biggest influence has definitely been Excision. His sound design is unreal, and the way he can tell a story through a huge cinematic intro has always been inspiring to me. After hearing his 2013 Shambhala mix, It showed me how dubstep is really about pushing boundaries and making a world that goes by your rules through the sounds that you create.
Another influence for my latest stuff has been Getter. I’ve always been a massive fan of his tracks that he released on Firepower Records, but he taught me that you haven’t got to be confined to one genre. Seeing him go from dubstep, to trap, to hip hop with his “Terror Reid” Alias and to his chill stuff with “Planet Neutral” was really inspiring to me and has shown me that being a music creator really has no limits at all besides the ones you set yourself in your own mind.
Finally, Im massively inspired by Dion Timmer. He’s the same age as me, and seeing what he’s achieved in such a short time has been awesome to watch. His music is seriously diverse, in that he can make that heavy, aggressive stuff, and then switch it up with those chill melodies. This is something I’ve been trying to portray in my own tracks over the last year or so.
What´s new right now?
I’ve recently released 2 chill tracks called ” ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ” & ” ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ” , but Im back to my usual dubstep now for the time being. I’ve got some big tracks upcoming featuring “Messinian” and “Chaos Theory”, which will be teased in a mix im working on for SYNC Records that will be released New Years Day. This is by far some of the most advanced tracks ive worked on so far and I cant wait to share them with everyone!
