Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hey I'm Darius aka. NuSonix from Cologne, Germany – 22 years old – and I'm a Drum & Bass producer. The genre is the thing I love. The dynamics of rhythmic elements and influences of funk – for me as drummer – are outstanding. Different sounddesigns and energies keep getting me hooked. Besides music production, I host the D&B radio show "12Zoll" and work at another radio station as a music journalist.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
When I first got into music in my earlier youth, punk and metal are what first got to me. However, this changed when I first got introduced to artists like Pendulum, Camo & Krooked and Sub Focus, who got me hooked on Drum & Bass music and grew to be some of my greatest influence. I'm not much a guy for genre restrictions though – I listen to jazz, bass house, global pop, trap & hip hop – so I can let myself be inspired by a broader scope of musical impressions.
What´s new right now?
My first single 420/Hunter just got out. Check it here: https://www.beatport.com/release/420-hunter/2163392
Two more songs recently got released on "Supernova LP" on Kos.Mos.Music and I've entered the Oceans Ate Alaska Remix Competition. I'd love to get your vote! 1. Listen 2. Vote

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?
Camo & Krooked – the two producers always get me. Their forward thinking sound and production is outstanding. The sound-design and the arrangement are so well done. That's why I'm a superfan.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
My biggest mistake was getting as many plug-ins as possible without even knowing what they do and how they work. It's better getting some plug-ins and learn them really well.
My tip to a newcomer musician: Star to hear tracks with the ear of an producer. Focus on elements in the track an how they are mixed etc. Try reference your track with the pro ones.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
Write a lot, read a lot and get any knowledge you can. Also reference your tracks to tracks from the pros and analyze what they are doing, how their levels are etc. Apply it to your mixdown and get better sounding tracks.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?
Get yourself confident with arrangement-techniques. The last one which really changed my workflow was the concept of PRVD – present, repeat, vary & destroy
