Read the Patrick Bandy Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Patrick Bandy is a local native of Atlanta, Georgia who wants to spread open-mindedness through the world with his music. As a fan of the mid-1990s sound of hip-hop and dance music, he has evolved and become a versatile musician and producer. Growing up, he was surrounded by musician family members who pushed him to learn to play instruments, leading him to join the school band. This laid the framework and knowledge of theory that built the foundation of his electronic music productions. Patrick’s first exposure to electronic music was Daft Punk, which created a passion and drives to create.

Patrick finds inspiration in the natural world and systems of nature. He strives to connect with people through his music on an emotional level, and to match the fundamental nature music has with humans. His passion and curiosity have led him to work hard on his music career and towards a college degree. His modest nature may overshadow his powerful drive to move forward, but his work speaks for itself.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I mainly produce electronic music, usually bass heavy stuff, so most of my inspiration in the old days came from hip-hop and rap producers. Growing up my older sister got me into The Gorillaz and Daft Punk so I started to mix the bass heavy styles with more electronic sounds. I found dubstep shortly after that and got very inspired by artists like 16bit, Caspa, Excision, Datsik, and many more. I love that gritty sound that dubstep has. I also love the ability of dubstep to absolutely destroy a dance floor. More recently I've gotten interested in drum & bass. I've written a few d&b tracks. In the realm of d&b I am heavily inspired by Camo & Krooked and Noisia.

My taste has changed over time but as for what I am writing it has usually stayed within electronic dance music. I have even produced a couple electro and techno tracks as well!

What´s new right now?

I haven't signed an NDA yet for this one so I suppose I can talk about it. I have an EP coming out on ThazDope records which has seen releases from another big inspiration of mine, The Widdler. This EP is called 'Concepts' and will feature three tracks including 'Concepts' and the 128BPM VIP of 'Concepts' along with a track called 'Dopium'. I've also got a lot of projects in the works that I can't really say too much about right now just because they aren't finished yet.

I am on a poll to be on a pop-up festival lineup here in Atlanta. The lineup and theme of the festival is voted on by fans and patrons. It is a really cool concept. It's a festival for the people, by the people.
