Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My name is George Velasco and I create music under the title "Perspectiv"

I try to focus on the ambient, experimental, or cinematic aspect of sounds when producing. The reason I say "try to" is because i am generally universal with music. There will be a time when I want to make a hip-hop track, and another when I work on a 80's retro wave kind of song, you know. I try to tell a story, to evoke emotion through sound and sometimes dialogue. Music and film has always been a passion for me for as long as I can remember. However, I was never really a fan of what they played on the popular radio stations. I followed channels on Youtube and then found related channels and that led to new music. I don't know if there's anyone else that does this maybe I'm weird but I love watching movies and I exclusively pay attention to the soundtrack in every scene, any movie I watch from light-hearted romantic comedies to horror. It helps feed my creative mind, so to speak.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I've been influenced by many artists and genres of music but there has been few artists that have made an impact on my life and the work I do now for example Keith Kenniff under his project "Helios". The way he mixes old school room drumming with ambient synth and piano, or Clams Casino with his experimental hip-hop. I remember the first time listening to this music it was like a revelation for me, an awakening. I conjured up all these ideas and scenes that played in my head that I wanted to make the soundtrack for, like staring out the window in a train as its high speeds blurs and creates the lines of colors of everything you're passing by, or driving through the city night lights with your windows wide open, you know. Other artists I should mention are Trevor Something, Mt. Eden, and even Marilyn Manson has been a huge influence on my life. He introduced me to a more dark-toned side of music. His lyricism and visual content made me feel like it was Halloween everyday (yes, that's a good thing).

At the time of this interview I'm 23 years old. That being said I have had to deal with school, work, and life things that can really make it challenging to continue doing what I like to do. The process of making music has certainly slowed to a degree but regardless, I'm still working on projects whenever I can. My taste hasn't really changed much over the years but it has certainly expanded. There is no greater feeling than when you've found a new song you're now in love with and I know you know what I'm talking about.
