Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hi, my name is Max and I have been working in the DJ business since 2010. Since 2012 the self-founded sound system Plenty Vibez has been on the road. I have been supported by our MC “MC Shammy” since 2017. What we play? Well, that is kinda difficult to spell out. You could say that we take bits and pieces from all kinds of musical genres, except Schlager, throw our own Tropical or Caribbean Sound into the mix, season and stir. We named it “Caribbean Bass”. So, you could call it a Caribbean mix of everything. We have mixed the Bee Gees with Major Lazer Samples, for instance, or Reggae with EDM. All depends on the sound and what the trend suggests at the moment. If you still have no idea what our sound might be like, or what we are trying to do I suggest you visit our Soundcloud or Hearthis.at. There you’ll find loads of live podcasts from people who have invited us into their shows.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
It all started with a “Soca” Mixtape from Berlin soundsystem “Threeks” in 2009. I realised then that I should have a go at this area myself. Before I rarely had the opportunity to experience DJ’s live. You know, work, girlfriend, BMX… a bit of everything really. Someone then gave me a hint to go to a “Bass Dive” event, to make up my mind about the scene. That moment changed a lot. I have not approached song half-hearted, but have taken them apart into their components, to see what can be done with them. That’s how it started, I lend many vinyl’s or CD’s from friends to go crazy on, musically speaking ?. Then influences from HipHop, New Wave, Rock o even Downbeat came together. You can never just chuck it into a draw. It’s kinda mainstream, but kinda not, because we won’t be put into any corner, which is why we like to be open for something new and unknown in music. Recently, I whipped up a mix in “Beatmake” with French influences and immediately put it online in a podcast. You’re more than welcome to check it out on our soundcloud. Nevertheless, well, yeah that’s how it all came together and we’re pretty happy with it. If you have a look at all the button pressers and “Sync” DJ’s it’s nice to know that it can be done differently.
What´s new right now?
Well! At the moment we are putting together our new mixtape. What exactly will be the focus, I am not allowed to tell… or I’ll be in trouble with Shammy ? Other than that, we will be guests on Echochamber, if there’s time for that. Then, if you would like to be influenced by new stuff, or like good music: We’ll be at many festivals, in beach bars or in clubs to see and listen to. You shouldn’t miss us.
If you wanna keep updated with regards to our soundsystem, just visit our facebook page “Plenty Vibez”. Right, I believe that is all you need to know about us. I just wanna thank everyone who has immensely supported us over the past few years: Threeks, Echochamber, Mahaec, der Kuhle Kolibri klub as well as my family and all my friends, who have always been there when times got hard. Mash up D keyboard and let’s make the most of it. Peace!
