Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My name is Noah, and I'm an engineering student and music producer out of Syracuse, NY. I'm 19 years old, and I love producing house and electronic music. I started becoming interested in music at 6 years old, where I took up piano lessons for the following 10 years. Over the years, I frequently would compose my own pieces in GarageBand, which sparked the dream of producing music. After graduating high school I became obsessed with electronic dance music (EDM). In college the passion only grew, and I wanted to know how to make it. I downloaded my first DAW (LMMS) and started watching tutorial videos on how to make music through it. Soon enough I was making tracks, producing my first 3 songs (Bright Lights, ProjectX, and Revelations). LMMS gave me the knowledge I needed to progress to a more professional software. I then purchased Fl Studio 12, and was very pleased with the results. Today, I study engineering and produce music in my spare time. I hope to someday be able to get signed to a record company and produce music for a living.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My biggest influences would have to be my parents and my girlfriend. My parents have always support what I do, and always will. They have helped me progress in the music industry by sharing my songs with their closest friends and family. My girlfriend came into my life almost a year ago. She loves the music that I make and encourages me to make music when I have mental blocks at college. My influences have never really changed, nor has my taste in influences. I take every day one step at a time, and I appreciate anyone or anything trying to help my music career.

What´s new right now?

Recently I released "Tempest" on SoundCloud, and have a new song on the way called "Ruins of Time", an EDM banger. I also have a Deep House track in the making that will be released in a month or so. I do not perform due to my lack of equipment, but would definitely consider performing if my music career took off. If you haven't already, please follow my SoundCloud and Instagram/Facebook pages to help support my music!

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

My biggest idol would have to be KSHMR. His cultural influence on modern day electronic music intrigues me and drives me to find my own style. I became a fan after hearing "Secrets", which was a phenomenal song.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

My biggest mistake when I started making music, ironically, was making music. I spent little time making other tracks and put all my time into one track, limiting me to my possibilities. My best friend, a Dj (Dj FLOVV), told me some of the best advice for making music. He said, "Keep making other tracks and do not rush your productions. Often times you will come up with new melodies and/or parts in time." This advice has helped me refine my music production skills, because often times, listening to your own song over and over again blinds you from things that may sound off.

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?

I promote my music using RepostExchange. The site allows you to repost other musicians tracks for points. You get 1 repost point for every 100 followers. With these points, you can set up a campaign to promote your music until the points run out. It's a great way to get your music reposted, liked and recognized. What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

My biggest challenge to date has been finding my own style. It's tough for an artist to find his/her style, especially when they compare themselves to other artists. Many YouTube videos with the title "Sound Like _____" have taken away the purpose of creating music. If you're going to sound like someone else, then you may as well be that person. I have overcome my biggest challenge by making music that I love. I could care less if I don't sound like "Martin Garrix" or "Tiesto". I would rather be known for music that I love to make, rather than music that sounds like somebody else.

How do you personally discover new music?

After I get a new follower on soundcloud or any other social media platform, I go to their profile and listen to their music. If I like it, I repost it, and if I don't, then I leave an insightful comment to help them better their production skills.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

“I repost the music to my page for all of my followers to see!

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

Always get your music listened to by new followers and strangers. Often, family and close friends will only speak positive of your music in fear of hurting your feelings. By asking new followers, "Hey, I like your song _____! It really resonates with me! Do you think you could listen to mine and give me any feedback?", you can better yourself by taking their advice. Also, when in doubt YouTube it. Learning how to mix and master was a challenge without any reference. I searched "Mixing and Mastering for Fl Studio 12" on YouTube, and started learning the basics! We live in a day and age where you can get the answer to almost anything, so take advantage of it!

We meet again in one year. What has changed?

In one year, I hope to be recognized on google and many radio stations. I hope to have a larger fan base and more knowledge about mixing and mastering music.
