Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hey everyone! I'm Rayyan, an NYC-based DJ/Producer, specializing in making melodic bass music. I'd say that my sound is a mix of future sounds and organic elements…i'm a sucker for a nice piano chord or guitar rift. For me a strong melody is key, so that's what I always strive to make stand out. Overall, my goal is to make music that people will connect with and that evokes some of the same emotions in the listener that I feel when I'm producing a song.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I've always been interested in listening to a bunch of different types of genres, and not just electronic music. In the electronic world, l love listening to guys like Illenium, Seven Lions, and the original of course, Avicii. When I was growing up, I listened to a ton of hard rock, hip-hop, and even some pop. Basically, anything catchy with a nice melody i'll enjoy! So while a lot of my sound design inspiration comes from other electronic musicians, I feel that my song writing draws influences from all over.
What´s new right now?
There's two new remix releases that i'm excited about right now! The first is my official remix of Adam Davenport ft. Shanica Knowles Billboard-charting single, 'My Return Address Is You,' available worldwide now on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and Beatport.
I'm also super excited about my remix for TELYkast's 'There For You,' which you can find on my Soundcloud.
Check them both out! And I promise that even more tunes is on the way!

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
I would say that trying to immediately get people to listen to my music as soon as I started producing. My advice is to just enjoy the process of making music, and that listeners will come. The same thing goes for creating quality music, it's just all about putting in the time and not worrying about what other people think too much.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
Whether you're a beginner or more experienced, try to simplify the song writing process. I find that having less tracks and just one catchy melody are often when I write my favorite songs. This also helps tremendously with mixing, as it's then easier to find a place in the mix for each individual track.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?
I'd say don't start a new track unless you finish the track that you're working on. It can often be tempting to start new projects, but you kind of just have to force yourself to finish tracks, as you'll benefit in the long run.
