Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I'm Renny C. (or Renny Carroll in full) and I'm a multi-influenced singer/songwriter from Essex, UK working in a number of different genres. I was the lead singer and main songwriter in UK metal/rock band Forever Never for 13 years and am now working on collaborations with various producers and musicians for a variety of different projects. In 2017 I worked on a banging trance track, "Elevate" with the awesome Craig Connelly:

And I worked with the very talented John Browne (Monuments) on his Flux Conduct solo project's second album, Yetzer Hara, which you can here the track "Concupiscence" here:

As a vocalist and musician I'm inspired a wide variety of genres and that is what makes me a diverse vocalist that can work on pretty much anything thrown at me!
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My influences have evolved and changed over the years, but I've never closed doors behind me – only just continued to open more as I've gone forwards. When I was 7 years old, my 3 favourite albums were by Michael Jackson, Terence Trent D'arby and Stevie Wonder – and all three of these singers are still incredibly relevant to me now and the way that I sing. By the age of 11 I started getting into some rap music through Snoop Dogg and Notorious B.I.G, and then in my teens I discovered metal on a school trip when someone showed me Korn on cassette. This started me on a particularly long path of discovery and what made me want to start my first band and is ultimately what led me onto doing Forever Never for 13 years. In this period I made regular returns to my R&B roots, and most of my favourite singers still come from this genre. More recently my mind was opened to Trance and House music, and having now been able to release some Trance music with Craig Connelly, I'm really open to doing some more in the future. In truth, there's not many styles of music that I wouldn't work on – as long as I like it, and the music is of a great standard, I'm usually happy to put my name to it.
What´s new right now?
The latter part of 2017 I've been pretty busy working with various musicians, getting ready for release in early 2018. I've been working on some pretty awesome Hard Rock music with a guitarist from Argentina, which I've done a couple of track with (so far), and I'm quite excited for people to hear those. We've also got someone pretty amazing on the mix as well, which I'm super excited about – but I can't say anything more particular about that just yet.
I've also worked on a track with a guitarist from Canada, who I really hope to do some more stuff with in the future as I feel there's a really great chemistry there and our combinatino of styles just seems to create something really cool. Again. I can't name names just yet because all will be revealed in due course!
I've also co-written and guested on a track with an awesome bunch of lads from Scotland called Neshiima, and our track is gonna be released in due course too. I heard a demo of the song, which one of the guys, Liam, showed me – and I just knew I wanted to write and sing the chorus on it! Thankfully Liam and the guys were keen on the idea too, so that'll be out soon ish for people to hear.
Lastly I'm gonna finally make some progress on my solo project which I've got a bunch of idea for, and is gonna hopefully encapsulate all of my favourite genres and influences together and come out the other end with something truly a bit unique and different to what is out there at the moment. I've been in touch with a producer that I want to work with, and I'm just waiting to hear back from him at the moment, so we'll see what happens.
I've also been considering a Patreon page for a while also, whereby I can let people see and hear what I'm up to on a regular basis, and listen in to some of my recording sessions if they so desire. That's just something I need to get round to doing and getting all the different levels set up. I've also got a tonne of unheard material from the past that I reckon people might be interested to hear. I guess anyone reading this – feel free to let me know what you'd like to hear/see on a Patreon page from me! Would be a great help!
Aside from that, I'm always available for vocal sessions if anyone needs some vocals get in touch and I'll see what I can do. I'm still also keeping my ears out for a new band project too, so again hit me up anyone out there with any ideas, I'm always open to suggestions! Thank for reading, your support is always so appreciated. Big love X
